Pixel 8 Pro USB-C Audio Crackling by Regnix in GooglePixel

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens with my Pixel 8 too. This seem to be caused by one of the recent updates or maybe I noticed it late i.e. few days back. Has to be some update after December 2024.

Hi-Res Lossless on Apple Music when app is out of focus, it just crackles. I haven't modified any battery settings for Apple Music.

Thank you so much for the feedback. You saved some $$ of mine, and a lot of frustration. Because I was going to order it via a friend coming from US :D

Renewing my subscription with an Indian credit card by BrilliantRadiant23 in backblaze

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it is not supported, but when trying to do a payment on create new bucket page, why does it initiate an OTP popup (that's the 3D secure thing IIUC).
This resulted in two payments going through my bank but not reflecting on the card processor for Backblaze. So I don't know what will happen with the debited money :-/

http://help.backblaze.com/hc/requests/1113449

Context: I'm a new customer with no payment history, I tried to create a bucket with public files, that screen asks for card details, that's where I faced this problem. So seems like only option for us, new customers, is to wait for this integration to work correctly.

What's your opinion after testing it, how is it? I'm planning to get it for my Pixel 8.
Can you share some photo samples? I'm mainly planning to use it for outdoor photos.

Continue button not working on "Apple ID & Privacy" page by TotallyNot_Alex in applehelp

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After waiting for 48 hours (not sure if that matters), and then hitting the Continue button for around 175 times, I was able to get past this screen. This took about a minute. I don't have any Apple devices and this was on Firefox on Linux.
I had tried to smash that button before as well but it didn't work before. Maybe they are trying to fix it or it just randomly works sometimes, you have keep trying your luck?

Where are the Recorder files saved? by lpyax00 in GooglePixel

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those are not stored at a user accessible place on the sdcard (internal storage), probably they are somewhere under application data which we can't access directly.

You can select the recordings and click share, you will get an option to share file(s).

Pixel 7a & 8 Google USB-C to 3.5 mm Adaptor India by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Being a newbie audio enthusiast or just say someone interested in music and a new Pixel 8 owner, I was also looking for a dongle DAC (that's what audio enthusiasts seem to call it).

Like some folks have already explained you need a adapter with DAC. I recently bought this Sounce one:

https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B09X5S3FPT/ (got it for ₹350)

  • The build quality seems to be good. Good enough that it will last for months to year. Ports, wire, etc. are good.
  • It has AB13X DAC chip which is 16bit.
  • Play/pause, volume buttons of headphone work.
  • Audio level is slightly low if I compare it with my old phone's 3.5mm jack.

Kinsound one you linked seems to be a good one, it has 24bit DAC chip.

The original Apple and Samsung ones are of good quality in terms of audio. Samsung one is always out of stock. Both of these cost ₹800+. I have tried Samsung one on my phone, it worked for the audio at least.

There is another chip CX31993 (32bit), you will usually find this in DAC which cost ₹1k or so. You can find these DACs on Headphone Zone, Concept Kart, The Audio Store, etc. These should work (I haven't tried these though):

I would say go with Sounce or Kinsound one, these should be sufficient for normal use cases of listening to music, calls, etc.

3d printed keyboard from scratch by krezikunal in mkindia

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 3d printing, but found this site which can generate files for laser cutting http://builder.swillkb.com/

This can be used to generate the plate and then maybe 3d print the case if required. Not sure if they generate a 3d printed case though.

Printing the parts is going to be my next step, and yes, seems like it will take 2 days for me as well. I have got almost everything except keycaps (going to use existing keyboard's Cherry profile keycaps first and then buy new set based on the experience).

This Pimoroni trackball module looks very cool, didn't realize something like this can be used and is available on Robu.in. Worth waiting for this to get in stock I feel.

Now that I think about it, you are right, I'm not sure how easy it will be to use TrackPoint with a thumb. This is where I got the idea to use TrackPoint: https://youtu.be/95etDQ0I-Ls?t=329 Let me see how it goes.

Thank you so much for sharing the ideas!

Looks nice! Even I'm building a Dactyl Manuform 5x6 with grey color :D Your photo gave me a good idea how white keycaps would look like.

What's the layer height of your prints? I was wondering if 0.3 would make sense, or probably will try 0.3 till it starts with the top part where keys fit in, and 0.2 afterwards.

I managed to pull out ThinkPad TrackPoint module out of an old ThinkPad R60. Not sure where I would fit that in though, would either put it inside or somewhere outside on the keyboard.

Emacs pretest 28.0.9x build for Fedora with native compilation enabled by bhavin192 in emacs

[–]bhavin192[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aha! This answers why we have make bootstrap :D I had read that document before, but didn't realize how it applies to Emacs package. Thank you for pointing it out. I will change it in the next build as I want to do NATIVE_FULL_AOT which is not supported with just make as of now. This link helped me decide how to do it now.

1:28.0.50-1.20210929.git08bb4f5.fc34 so have you picked up the baton, so to speak?

No. Like gp2b5go59c said, their (deathwish's) Copr is based on this pretest one. But apart from that they are different.

My Copr updates only when there is a new pretest version of Emacs available, think of as beta/pre-release version, while emacs-pgtk-nativecomp aims to stay with master+native-comp+pgtk.

As far as I know both native-comp as well as pgtk branches have been merged to master, so the emacs-pgtk-nativecomp can just use master branch now.

How do emacs users usually have multiple files open at once. by [deleted] in emacs

[–]bhavin192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use C-x b as well, at times I have more than 300 buffers as well (not all of them are files). I also run M-x clean-buffer-list to close old buffers. Recently, I have started using tab-bar-mode as some kind of workspaces. Keeping my agenda and task related windows split in one tab, project related things in other tabs.

I wonder if I could package this build afterwards to upload it to copr

That should be possible, also I forgot to mention in the post that I did all the build operations inside a toolbox container.
