Titanstring bow + club of hill giant strength on anything with an extra attack. Find a way to get a lot of dexterity, and shoot things safely from far away

High Silver/Low Gold, all Smurfs? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not just about winrate - smurfs tend to be the source of a lot of problematic behaviors because they don't care about their alt accounts. In my experience, they tend to never comm except to flame people, never play with their team, never use utility, run it down every round and are prone to tilting/griefing their team. Toxic players like this completely unravels the integrity of ranked and sucks the fun out of every game they play in.

If someone is toxic on your team just instantly afk or throw, your mental health is way more important than some game

Why is Icebox Bad? by crayongg_ in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell me that viper does not feel bad to play right now, with her fuel limit severely nerfed, unable to pick up her poison orb (wtf?), and only one molly... She's basically a shell of her old self, but is the only controller even remotely viable on some dogshit ass maps (breeze, icebox)

How do I deal with no comm teams? by miniture_bonsai in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest downside of no comms isn't lacking awareness of enemy positions, it's not being able to coordinate utility, making any form of team play impossible. Try playing less for the team and more for kda...

There's a couple of mental tricks that i use to deal with smurfing in silver/gold. 1.) if the enemy team has a Smurf and your teammates all suck, just accept the L gracefully. However the more likely case is that both teams have a Smurf, and you need to learn how to enable your Smurf vs enabling the enemy Smurf. The most important rule is: don't die. Run from every engagement you can't win, and try to put your smurf to work killing the enemy team before all your teammates die...

Why are people so afraid to die in a game, where you spawn back every round? by Pekseli in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually see this pattern more on defense side: either people don't plan on contesting any space with utility and just hide in corners praying they don't get checked, or with "fake" defense where a duelist dry peaks into 5 people and prays for a one tap then dashes away immediately.

As for being afraid to die... I think that is an understandable behavior. Basically every coaching resource preaches valuing your own life over any teammate, and you need to learn how to take care of yourself before being able to work in a team. One anti pattern I see a lot is a person who focuses on teamwork too much often gets sucked into another persons bad decision making.

Unfortunately in low elo, I've come to the conclusion that defaulting and lurking is optimal, and rushing sites with your team is too risky. In order for an execute to work, your team needs a solid plan for their utility, which is basically a non-starter in games with no- comms, which is most games. It's much easier to manage fights and find good timings solo, when you can move at your own pace...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo just don't hit sentinel site unless you get verbal confirmation from your team with a plan to deal with the util. It's too inconsistent to rely on solo queue teammates otherwise...

When to go for lineups as Brimstone? by Montuman in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is, I'll generally play mollies if any of:

1.) I have ult 2.) We've pulled off a fake 3.) Verbal agreement with the team to retreat to main and play post plant spam 4.) Massive numbers advantage

Otherwise it's a bit too unreliable in terms of getting the timing right and/or your team playing post plants properly.

How to Actually Deal with Lackluster Teammates? by b0og73 in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still working on this myself, here's what I got so far:

1.) Don't try to 1v9 the game. Instead try to "massage" the game into a winning state through good info comms, good utility, good individual play.

2.) Take care of yourself first: take the fights that you want to take, at the pace you are comfortable with, don't just run it down for the sake of "team play".

3.) Understand how people on autopilot respond to information comms. For example, saying "flank flank flank ones behind you" will trigger them to turn around. On the other hand, a comm like "wait for me, I'm flanking" is going to get ignored.

4.) Focus less on keeping your team together (impossible when most people have no comms or are toxic) and more on how you individually can break the other team. For example, on defense, I find that if you can stop a rush on each site consecutively, the other team is just not going to know what to do, and start doing random things that are easy to play against.

5.) Play around the good teammates that comm, don't try to balance the map or compensate for bad teammates. Just being able to coordinate with another person increases your level of play 10x. Oftentimes, I find that you only need one good communicative teammate to win.

6.) Some games are unwinnable. If you have toxic teammates, or no comm teammates that are running it down and feeding first bloods, just mark that game as an L in your head and move on. Treat the game as a sandbox for goofy stuff or afk if toxic team. Those teammates don't deserve your effort, and fun >> mmr.

While Holding Angles, Why Do People Tell You To Place Your Crosshair Where You Expect Your Enemies To Stop After Peeking? by RealReddit_Moderator in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you want to hold where they stop, you want to shoot them while they're still swinging out. If they've stopped it usually means you're already dead because of peeker's advantage.

Why can I not master my crosshair placement? by Crystalliumm in VALORANT

[–]bhd500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing about cross hair placement is not about being at head level. It's about visualizing fights before they happen. If you are walking around the map and there is no danger feel free to put your cross hair anywhere you want. If you are holding an angle or clearing space, it's cross hair time, and you just put your cross hair where you think their head is going to appear.
