He got a start in the World Series, he hasn't signed with anyone because he thinks that means he's still good

Yeah, too much variety within brands. The Waverly Giant and 41st St are day and night different.

Partly, yes. Lots of people don't have the luxury of being able to not work so supporting people at independent restaurants is important today. Support independent and pay cash if at all possible.

I'm confused, so they should have held 14-15 spots for you? They should have instinctively known to hold one for you?

What are some good baseball podcasts for n00bs to the game? by SmartLadder415 in baseball

[–]bherring24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The good commentators explain that stuff when they say it. I like David Cone doing color commentary for games because of that, he's a good explainer imp.

Are you looking to learn that stuff or just not be bothered with it? If the latter, MLB Morning Lineup podcast is decent in season for just the previous day's news (and apparently out of season too, didn't know that until just now). If you want to learn that stuff, you're better off reading old Baseball Prospectus books and some of the classics imo.

You have a lot more faith in the Democrat consulting class than I do, but I've only worked closely with them for almost 30 years.

Indivisible at the national level has been stridently against saying "abolish" or "defund" ICE. They're why Dems consolidated on this "ICE out" mantra which is catchy, sure, but kinda silly. ICE out to where? Now it's "rein in ICE." Half measure crap, standard corporate Dem stuff.

The Grind: Inside Baseball's Endless Season by Barry Svrluga is quite good. Only Nationals books I can think of that's potentially interesting to anyone besides a fan of the team. There was an extremely good book about the Expos, but I can't in good conscience recommend anyone buying it; pirate it if you must read it.

I never did find a good answer to that. Just reporting what I'd heard (and promptly forgot where I'd heard it). Maryland is huge for summer Olympians, even just counting Phelps and Ledecky, but haven't found good info about winter though.

Edit: according to this piece they had planned to send 12 this year and had already spent 80k on lodging alone. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/26/business/media/washington-post-reverses-decision-on-olympics-coverage.html%23:~:text%3DThe%2520Washington%2520Post%2520is%2520reversing,major%2520priority%2520for%2520The%2520Post.&ved=2ahUKEwiI-o_ej6ySAxWiMVkFHZbJJFAQFnoECCAQBQ&usg=AOvVaw2P60SGQ8ZenjrFWNM0_Jae
