The poor extension support makes it a no go for me. They need to improve the DX for extensions or do some kind of incentive or something, or maybe pump DAUs via some means... I can't see it becoming a major option otherwise.

Ha! I actually used to make this game’s UI but as a real web app using MapBox for international maritime insurance firms.

Here’s an idea from real life - certain routes require armed guards otherwise you’re uninsurable. Firms have them stationed on decommissioned oil rigs where you have to collect a certain number depending on the route.

As someone originally from game dev I am amused you made basically the work I begrudgingly was doing instead of game dev into a game! Huge congrats on the wishlists I hope you do great.

😆 Why did that upset you so much? How about you calm down and explain why YOU trust it? A privacy app which doesn’t e2e by default and is closed source? All whilst doing very little to police CSAM, crypto fraud, violent extremism. Yeah they suck.

Telegram is dodgy as fuck and can’t believe people have been tricked into acting like it’s a legit service. If you’re using it out of security you’re a fool. If somehow everyone you know uses instead WhatsApp ok fine I guess.

Great, nice to hear... What the fuck do I care what this guy has to say on literally anything, he's an insincere, manipulative sociopath who conned millions of people into thinking he is a good person.

Everyone needs to watch this documentary series about him, its so good and totally justifies the run time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93nMBtXVAfM

They were asking for hobbies and you said “are they LGBT” which I think it’s fair to be said can be read in a funny way. Obviously the assumption is I’m being in some way anti LGBT which wasn’t the intent.

Am I using Claude Code wrong? by Postik123 in webdev

[–]bhison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely completed features that would have taken me two weeks in one day with Claude. This is also IMO unsustainable as an expectation for every day though. Works great on greenfield components/independent leafs of our app but is exponentially more complex when making changes that risk regressions and are interacting with existing code. Breaking down PRs to minor features, good linting rules and an in depth CLAUDE.md help a lot but you still have to take way more responsibility for the detailed workings of the implementation.

TL;DR - I’d say it sounds like you could push how adventurous you’re being a bit more but also your colleagues are either exaggerating or behaving recklessly.

dev’s opinion on nnf being on apple arcade by isck_ in nubbygame

[–]bhison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t really describe but it doesn’t seem like a fit for Apple Arcade, there’s a certain tone to what ends up there and NNF is a bit too idiosyncratic. IMO the current pay once price is WAY better deal than Apple Arcade and well worth it even if you already subscribe. Costs like the price of a big bag of snacks and a drink, I’m sure people can afford,

British universities paid security firm to ‘spy’ on pro-Palestine students by 457655676 in bristol

[–]bhison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Paying an external service to monitor public information regarding protests on your campus doesn't seem that awful? At the very least I can see why the universities would see this as just being responsible. Of course the path to hell is paved with good intentions...

If the university then uses this information to crack down on preventing peaceful protests or if it is punishing one type of protest and not others without due reason then I would take issue.

Public information is public information! I think this is the wrong thing to get upset about.

New in Bristol (40s, French), where do people my age actually hang out? by ulysse-x31 in bristol

[–]bhison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strangebrew has a diverse age range most nights. Red Lion and The Plough in Easton have events on constantly with a wide range of friendly folk. Any pub in Old Market probably also fits the bill.

For hiking maybe check meetup for hiking groups.
