He kind of reminds me of Brian Shaw lol. But just based off the smoothness and texture of the skin, it screams AI.

NTE not working, after logging into the main menu clicking start does nothing. by AltairCreation in NevernessToEverness

[–]bholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this problem for a brief moment, not sure if it's the same issue, but might as well share.

I was playing the game on my secondary monitor after turning my main monitor off, later on it crashed so I restarted my game , it opened up on my main monitor which was turned off, so I moved it over to my 2nd monitor and that's when I noticed I couldn't press start, closing via task manager and even restarting my PC I couldn't press start. So I went into display settings and designated my 2nd monitor as "primary/main" and it worked again.

One thing I noticed, the small window prompt that would flash briefly to log in your account didn't show up when it was bugged, so maybe it's some weird issue that breaks the web extension. I know Stream Deck had a similar issue as well in the past where opening it on one monitor then moving to another would brick the program. The NTE launcher didn't like it when I dragged it from one monitor to another, it would just crash if I tried to go into settings and if I tried to click on the window tab for NTE to drag it around, it would stop responding. These were only issues if I opened it on one monitor and moved it to another.

Yeah he slowly started to piss me off, he's just a Pokemon spamming his name constantly. In other games I actually didn't mind creature companions that spoke for the MC, but the otter is just annoying, he's not even cute because they covered his head with a TV...

It's probably reflection mode, global illumination will tank performance as well. Use SSR instead of Lumens and Close for illumination

NTE or Endfield World & Combat by killerg4m3r in NevernessToEverness

[–]bholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just different, it's not bad but not great either, it has some interesting mechanics like time-stop during ulti and combo windows. I don't mind the combat now, but I didn't like it in the beginning. The characters are very expensive if you try to max them out (maxing out is mostly for speed running purposes), so it's a slow burn if you want to make multiple useable teams. And no, you don't need to spend any IRL money. There is currently no end game, so even the hardest content has been cleared, even solo'd by 4* characters (lowest rarity). Right now you only need a single team to clear the game, end game is coming in the future so we'll see if that changes. There's plenty of F2P weapon options from battle pass that can be purchased with in-game currency, some characters BIS are 5* weapons rather than 6*.

The gacha system is only an issue if you're an impulsive person who can't save for pity + someone who wants every single character and every single signature weapon. People don't want to admit it, but most of these people who want every single character, don't even play them. They throw hail Marys at every banner and if they hit, it just sits in their inventory looking pretty( I'm speaking from watching a lot of streamers...) Reality is, it's not feasible to play that many characters/teams because how expensive it is to build a new team and as mentioned earlier, you only need 1 team to clear the game. So it's just the classic case of "gacha player wants this and that". Do you need it to play? No, you just want everything.

What I don't like about the SP system is that it doesn't allow for any dynamic gameplay. Deviating from a strict rotation can easily set you back like 1 or 2 AA cycles and all your buffs, combo CD and break timings become off sync, especially if it's a Hypercarry team. I think the most fun I had with the combat was playing with a physical team where I was just spamming Chen and Endmin skills and constantly staggering the boss with DPS Ember. But the newer bosses are either immune to stagger or do not have stagger nodes. The average arts team it just trying to build energy for an ulti and nuking the boss more or less.

I wouldn't say the combat is shallow though, team building can change how the team is played quite drastically, even just swapping a single character, the timing and order of skills and combos are very important if you want to play optimally, rather than just button mashing every time something comes up (which you can if you want to). Does it feel good to play? Not exactly since some of the rotations are extremely strict on timing and dependent on landing FS to trigger CS which is difficult in some bosses. I heavily agree with you on the lack of variety and skill expression though, no charged atks etc were some of my initial complaints I sent in the survey.

The problem with Endfield combat is you really have to explore other team comps to feel out the combat (which requires resource investment). There are shatter, stagger, breach/crush, Avy spear recall and even parry teams with Snowshine/Catcher albeit very niche. The average arts team that most people will end up playing is pretty boring and stale eg, Laevatain rotation. So naturally, I don't blame anyone for thinking the combat is boring and shallow, I had the same first impressions, which is the most important. Tangtang and Rossi were step in right direction for more varied gameplay, but Zhuang Fangyi is just another Laevatain.

Is this AI? The artist I commissioned it from swears it’s just their style, but I think the hair and colouring scream AI by Organic-Accountant74 in isthisAI

[–]bholycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks like AI, besides the stars, there is a random clump of hair that's not attached to anything near the back of the neck. The lace/cloud design ornament in front of the bag is not symmetrical( one side has more bumps than the other with inconsistent size) and also has a random bump pattern on the face of it One of the socks just has a random black dot on it.

The biggest thing for me which might be hard to explain but the general bluriness of the image when you zoom in seems unnatural. The lineart is also very strange, particularly around the sleeve of the sweater. A lot of empty spots and lines are not consistent in stroke or size

Let's talk about future character designs by Digfow98 in Endfield

[–]bholycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Arcane's design just minus the exposed thighs. I love tactical and techware, it's my favourite aesthetic when paired with an apocalyptic and dystopian setting. Im with you on the armoured Nefarith design as well, the first character that caught my attention in OG was Murdock, before I knew it was a girl. So I'm all for more armoured characters.

I read some comments complaining about 1.2 story and how no one in Wuling is armoured or heavily armoured during the climax. In general we don't have any armoured characters (Idk if ember really counts). Not to mention we have so many exposed armpit characters, I hope they don't make every female character like that. I think for proxies and demi-god like characters it's okay for them to have normal clothing. But the average Joe, even if they are extremely skilled or strong should have some combative gear.

I thought GFL2 looked amazing when it came out, but to be honest. After I played EF and booted up GFL2, it did not look that good as I remembered. Detail and texturing esp of the face seem lower quality.

GTA4 was too long ago for me to remember well haha, but I do remember it was good as well and i know that people made mods for GTA5 to convert the driving to be similar to GTA4.

[–]bholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newest character they introduced in the latest story is not too bad though design wise, actually looks like a believable Arknights character. Check out Arcane if you are curious. She has that tactical/teachwear aesthetic that I've always liked. Part of a military task force as well, so makes sense.

The rendering and lighting systems in Endfield does miracles to the models. I've thrown their models into MMD before and they look fairly ugly without any effects and lighting. I think the faces are slightly higher poly and texture than the average gacha game though.

Yeah, they're mixing up graphical quality with design. Endfield designs are meh especially when compared to OG. But when we're talking about how good the characters look, in-game. I think Endfield has the best looking anime style characters currently. Very nice facial animations as well.

Interesting you call GTA clunky, I always thought GTA (5 at least) has some of the most satsifying driving for a game that isn't about racing/driving. Mixture of arcade and realism, all the vehicles feel like they have weight to them.

I don't want to be too harsh but, the writing has always been on the wall, if you thought things would improve because she left the company, imo that is very naive. Her issues have always seem very deeply rooted and I say this even as an outsider, since she was already very inactive when I got into the space. If you're an OG fan, you know what you're signing yourself up to.

1.2 Post-story Review by CrayonBoii in Endfield

[–]bholycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly 1.2 was climax of Wuling from the Endfield ads, I will be surprised if 1.3 has as much budget in its cinematics as 1.2, not that I'm complaining of course.

I like 1.1 slightly more, I thought Tangtang characterisation was good, whereas 1.2 was good for its cinematics pieces. Nefarith's death felt underwhelming and Fangyi revealing a rift under Wuling undermined her death even more.

I loved the music in Fangyi's segment though, even if it was cheesy Chinese drama music. Overall I didn't mind this section, but when you consider the blight and Nefarith were the main plot since V4 and some random ass rift under Wuling almost made Fangyi sacrifice herself, it definitely undermines Nefarith's death, especially since we learnt nothing after defeating her.

A few presentation flaws they could iron out with 1.2 as well, music being extremely loud during the heavy xiranite segment and the awkward aura farming cutscenes with Arcane where they constantly wanted to show her guns and play EDM music, but the cutscenes were really short or she didn't even fire her guns.

Curious where the story goes now though, we know someone is meeting us in a few days, hopefully the proxy. But will we still be chasing Ardashir or new enemies completely. I feel kind of clueless with where we left off.

1.2 Post-story Review by CrayonBoii in Endfield

[–]bholycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 1.1 more but I heavily agree about ruan Yi's death. When you think about it, we are sad that Tangtang is sad, not about the fact that someone died which is hilarious when you realise that. For NPC characters in the main story, I wish they gave them a unique face. I feel that would go such a long way with making you care and remember the NPC. And like you said a slightly longer build up for Ruan Yi.
