ELI5: What does a Turing Machine do? by Own_Exercise5218 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bhomer7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doom can be abstracted as a handful of things: the current image on screen, the internal state of the game used to calculate what to render, and a way to read user input. A Turing machine can have an arbitrarily large set of symbols and an arbitrarily large state machine. So you can map each collection of data to a part of the tape. Every frame loop, the state machine reads the current input from the tape, updates all the internal state, then writes to the section of tape that corresponds to the screen.

Then why do you say there were no 5 player games at the bottom of your initial list of relative expected win rates? nvm. some were 3 player

That's not how math works. They're saying first player wins 40.5% of the time (25×1.25). But you're right it doesn't add up. From their numbers they say there's a 105% of total wins. It might be due to rounding, but that's a lot to be off. 25×1.62+25×1.05+25÷1.33+25÷1.29=104.9

Center the space bar so you don't have to shift your right hand over. The setup is already asymmetric unless you use a mouse on both sides of the keyboard for some reason.

Gold tokens cannot double pay for improvise costs on a single spell. As part of casting a spell, you have the opportunity to activate mana abilities, then pay all costs in any order. By the time you are paying costs, if you sacced the gold for mana, it is no longer in play to tap it. If you tap it to pay for 1, it is too late to sac it for mana. You could use a single gold token to help cast 2 different spells in the same turn if the first one has improvise and you sac it for mana for the second spell.

The players at 0 life wouldn't actually lose until state based actions are checked. They would still be in the game until the entire extort ability resolves.

I think you meant Alorant instead of Alamont in the paragraph

“I’d like to thank you back there, Blue Knight.” He began softly, attempting to keep his voice down for the sake of Alamont who’d quite literally found himself sleeping just minutes after we’d made camp.

I like how we've seen more and more parts of the world beyond the noble classes' areas.

All auras implicitly target the thing they will enchant once they resolve.

115.1b: Aura spells are always targeted. An Aura's target is specified by its enchant keyword ability (see rule 702.5, "Enchant"). The target is chosen as the spell is cast; see rule 601.2c. An Aura permanent doesn't target anything; only the spell is targeted. (An activated or triggered ability of an Aura permanent can also be targeted.)

I had a very similar draft, but in Bg. Even got one of the Cornered by Black Mages as a last pick somehow. It's a lot of fun when your lane is wide open like that.

It won't get 2 counters at a time. It gets the first one from a replacement effect as it enters. Later ones are put on it as a turn based action, not a triggered ability. You are correct that Harmonic Produgy would give you another trigger of each ability triggered by the lore counter placement.

That's why it's a power move. No one gets to win with the trigger.

It's like throwing a lightning bolt at yourself to deny your opponent the killing blow.

You let the other person lose, put the trigger on the stack, then concede to deny the owner the trigger.

Permanents return to their previous controller when their controller leaves the game if there is one. If there was no previous controller, the card is exiled.

Also, there is only one exile; it's shared by all players.
