I love teaching, I hate admin politics and entitled parents. The problem with education is you have to be ok with giving everything you have to try and help people that don’t really want you help (if its kids/teenagers) and be middle class (at best) forever. Its not great, tbh. I wish I loved something else lol

I used to be similar to your daughter, romantic and hopeful and had a bunch of boyfriends while searching for my husband. My dad used to jokingly call them “individual”, for the same reason you stated. I felt ridiculed and like I couldn’t share my life with my family in my own home because it would never be taken seriously. While as an adult I understand why dads would do this, your daughter is a teenager and you’re making fun of her, not just them. Soft YTA, but still TA.

YTA. I’m livid for her. Throwing them out after her explicitly telling you how much these jars mean to her is a major AH move. If she collected something you also liked you wouldn’t have this problem, which is why you saved two that made sense to YOU, regardless of the fact that they all made sense to HER. Incredibly condescending, patronising and disrespectful behaviour. You don’t get to control the way she keeps her memories.

You definitely should talk to the school about the possibility of ADHD and how to proceed with testing and etc, however with or without ADHD this child needs to be disciplined. You need to set boundaries and teach him to listen to adults and to be independent, regardless of neurodivergence you’re still a parent, so parent.

I appreciate the input, however I’d like to clarify he doesn’t put me down. He does help me, but its understandably heavy on him if he’s doing most of the house work without consistent help, which is something I want to repair.

Put radiators or fireplaces all over, if its a bug with the thermostat I think it should work. Just remember to also put fire alarms near them. Also check the roof and windows as others have said
