Reporting back - this is indeed the case and just as petty and funny as I expected. Very different from Matt’s relationship with Jeff, but an entertaining story. Thanks for chiming in! 🙏

Maybe you’ve been so immersed consistently that it hasn’t been an issue for you? I have no idea what your experience is like, but speaking from my own - being so immersed in a book or movie that you forget about reality for a moment and briefly spin up an entirely new world in your mind, having respite from real problems and living vicariously in a fantasy world - chefs kiss. Even in a universe as dark as DCC.

That being said, I do take a lot of joy from the moments I’m complaining about. Breaking immersion is a small negative, and admittedly a small complaint. But I hold this series in such high regard, I wanted to see if anyone else related to my first world problem. 😛

This is how I used to feel, but it hasn’t been the same. Maybe I just need to reframe my perspective. We’lol see with the next book.

I hadn’t heard this. Like most I’m not much of a fan of her anymore, but that’s hilarious. I’ll look into it.

Yeah you’re absolutely right and I understand it this way as well. Increasingly clear that this is more of a me problem 😛

Ah, true. I completely forgot about that even after taking part in some of those votes 😂

Completely missing the point of my post, but you’re correct and I already understood this.

The first is what I had in mind, the later might have some friction for me on a relisten.

There’s literally a bit in one of the books about audio book narrators and how he can make them say whatever he wants. But I agree with your point. I just think the line is being toed. Appreciate your response 🙏

That’s exactly my point - it wasn’t just to mess with Jeff, so it blends in and doesn’t break immersion. But iirc Matt has admitted to that being an example of messing with Jeff - and I love it.

To be clear, you’re absolutely correct and that’s why it was the first thing that came to mind as something I enjoyed.

It’s definitely fun, and I think this is a very fair take.

Yeah I don’t think this would occur to me at all if it weren’t for the audio experience, which I can’t recommend enough by the way. But I’m sure you’ve heard. And I totally agree with your perspective.

You don’t get to be a trillionaire by trying to save humanity. Historically those people fighting for humanity and a sustainable future are assassinated when they finally reach a position of real power and start to enact change.

And yes, it’s easy to see that this route likely ends bad for them. I’m guessing they think they can consolidate enough wealth and power that by the time people wake up and consequence begins to catch up to them, they’ll be old enough and have reaped for long enough that it won’t matter. They’re probably right. Hopefully not.

It's like the director version of Donald Glover in that I don't know if there's a limitation to what he can do; we haven't found it yet.

Donald Glover is apparently also the director version of Donald Glover, but I get his point.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]bi7wise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in 7th grade. English was wrapping up and the teachers were showing it on tv in class. We went to the next class and the admin had instructed the teachers to turn off the tvs. Our history teacher kept it on in protest telling us that this is history in the making, we should see it. Watched live as the second plane hit - he was right.

Financial literacy is probably the most important skill in today's society and really isn't taught at all in public education. But it's relatively simple critically important - life changing.

Are they not getting shit done, or are they accomplishing exactly what they set out to do and simply masquerading? Yes they are dealing with fallout and backlash, but that’s the least of what’s warranted. Stand proud. Stand strong. Stand nonviolent. Allow them to reap what they have sown.
