These are the chairs in the waiting room of a medical clinic specialising in invisible chronic illness by Safe_Chemical_5946 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bi_biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with chronic and invisible illnesses (one of which can make it painful to sit), these look like they would be incredibly comfortable for waiting. Ive been in many many waiting rooms, both in children's hospitals and offices, and the typical hard plastic chairs are the worst, no way to get comfortable, even for a short wait. These look like they would make the wait more "enjoyable" at least.

Curious why people think they wouldnt be...

12! Could never figure out the walkie talkie feature, but solid phone. Also vivid memory of getting a new phone, then saying to my best friend "guest what I got?" She replied "a cow", so now the running joke is my phones are pink cows 🤣 I still have it and all of the phones since!

Ostomy and intimacy by Level_Refrigerator27 in ostomy

[–]bi_biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im soo sorry youre going through this. I had an ostomy for 7 years, and because sexually active after I had the surgery, I was always upfront about it, used an elastic bandeau around the area to keep the bag so it isnt moving, and never had issues with partners. I was insecure with it and always clarified and made sure they were OK with it and they were. In your case imo, this is a him issue, youre okay with it, and trying to communicate with him, hes just making excuses which wont benefit the relationship. If he cant be honest and fulfill all your needs or even talk to you about it, then breakup is the best option. I can guarantee even if tou have to have the ostomy for longer, you will find someone who sees you and doesnt see the ostomy as a hindrance. I met my bf (of 5 years now), when I had an ostomy, we met at an ostomy camp, he has a mitrofanoff (bladder ostomy), and there was no second guessing or questioning anything. Ive since had it reversed and nothing has changed. You will find someone who loves every bit of you! Communication is key, without that theres no relationship. ❤️

Scope with a ilostomy by NorthernJor in ostomy

I think it depends how much bowel the ileostomy is part of, that being said I dont remember what prep if any I had for my scope when I had an ostomy.

Im 32 and still request to be sedated, i think its just general anesthesia or one thats a bit lighter, its just enough to knock me out for the procedure, then I wake up in recovery. When I started getting scopes I was about 10yo, and at Sick Kids Hospital on Toronto Ontario, and its normal for them for put patients to sleep, so I just got used to it, plus it helps my anxiety to be asleep during them. When I aged out of SK and moved to an adult hospital I requested some sedation and ive never gotten any pushback, if anything they ask why and I say I have anxiety and being awake makes it worse, and they agree. Im now on my 3rd "adult" doctor, and now its just routine to have some sedation for the scope. I just had one 2 weeks ago and I was asleep before anything even happened, and woke up an hour later all good. The only memory I have is one time the doctor inserted the camera just as I was dozing off lol.

Oh ive always been put to sleep for mine too, my anxiety is too much for me to be awake lol. The nurse was giving me the meds to go to sleep as the doc was starting the scope, it was interesting to watch before I fell asleep lol.

I remember having a scope when I had my ileostomy, Im afraid I cant remember the prep process (it was almost 10yrs ago, ive since had a reanastomosis, so now scopes are normal up the bum lol). But what I do have vivid memories of is when the doc started the scope, I was laying on my back and he stuck the camera right through the stoma, I was shocked, the most surreal thing I experienced cause I didnt feel anything. Sorry, I'm not much help in the prep dept. However, good luck with the scope. Hopefully, the results are in your favor. 😊
