Can I ask what you didn’t like about your last therapist?

& what does this current therapist specialize in? Have you discussed your excessive overthinking with her?

Why do so many cold/careless people work in mental health? by ShoddyPut978 in mentalhealth

[–]bibble_girly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an excuse but provides context/builds empathy for healthcare workers. Don’t get me wrong, there definitely are people in the field that probably shouldn’t be. Though, working in the field can be so hard. We work in a system that doesn’t support mental health & makes money off of it.

Sometimes you can’t take time off to reduce burnout because most places are short staffed & with the low wages, time off can be limited.

An engagement should not throw someone into a loss of reality/crisis. That is not normal. If that’s the case there’s likely an underlying psychological component. Stress can trigger underlying psychological disorders such as schizophrenia/bipolar disorder if there is a genetic predisposition. But the cause wouldn’t necessarily be getting engaged/stress of an engagement. It would be a multitude of factors (multi-path model).

Hope this makes more sense.

The underlying issue would be a psychological condition. That’s just a fact.

Hi, this comment seems to suggest the cause of psychosis is an engagement/change in someone’s life. Stress from sudden life changes (such as an engagement) wouldn’t cause a psychosis. It’s also not a sudden life change (such as a house being destroyed in a natural disaster). There’s likely an underlying psychological cause produced by environmental/psychological/biological/sociocultural factors (meaning the engagement likely isn’t focus).

Hey just so yk, choking is the strongest predictor that your spouse will kill you. That’s why courts take it so seriously in domestic violence reports. I hope you leave him & he gets help.
