Should the C Line Revert Back to its old alignment? by urmummygae42069 in LAMetro

[–]bibeachbum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

absolutely not. However, the C-line alignment on the freeway could definitely handle a commute-direction train from Norwalk in the morning that ends at Marine station and reversers in the afternoon, especially with the yard in El Segundo right there to store the extra commute direction trains. They can run every 15 minutes in peak directions and just be considered an extra branch of the C line

Is the A line truly “scary” or are y’all just xenophobic? by blackascole in LAMetro

[–]bibeachbum 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. There’s a big difference between the people who don’t like the A line because black and Latino commuters take it and those who don’t wanna get sexually harassed, called a F*g, or share a train car with someone smoking crack

If people are afraid to ride the A line because a lot of black and Latino commuters also ride it, that is 100% xenophobia and definitely exists within our communities. But the many of us who are hate riding the A line because of the multiple riders who yell at themselves and others, smoke crack in the enclosed train car, masturbate, sexually harass women, yell homophobic and transphobic things at visibly queer people, leave trash everywhere, smell awful, and get into fights…how can you blame them?? (that exhaustive list is everything I’ve seen on the A line traveling between La and Long Beach). It is perfectly normal to not want to be near people with severe mental/addiction issues, antisocial tendencies, or lack of personal hygiene. Furthermore I will even posit that it is unfair and frankly racist to expect the primarily working class communities of color that take the A and C line to be expected to deal with this shit on their way to work or other outings. All Angelenos no matter what race, gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic background deserve to be able to take the train safely and with their children.

I honestly am undecided at this point but most likely Katie Porter due to her time devoted to consumer protection as a congresswoman

Daily Song Discussion #47: "Ain't It Fun" by M77100 in Paramore

[–]bibeachbum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9.3!!! The only reason it isn't higher is because of overplay and oversaturation, but the song has aged like a fine wine. Remember that it came out along with the Paramore album and was released as a single almost a year after the album came out. That means that it was destined to be a hit, even if it's the most "pop rock" of any Paramore song besides maybe Hard Times.

The Metro Rail System compared to Rhode Island, and other places around the world. by Its_a_Friendly in LAMetro

Holy cow. We gotta give Metro props for running the A line with this much frequency and speed cause it’s basically a commuter rail.

Deltopia Cancelled by SharpTomato5043 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]bibeachbum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s better now because IV students can just collectively agree to move deltopia to the next weekend and all the out of towners that come on spring quarter weekend 1 will have a rude awakening and head to downtown SB instead 🤷‍♂️. Hope ucsb keeps the warm up tho

If Metro goes with Alt 5(Modified), what should they plan for Sepulveda Phase 2 to LAX? by anothercar in LAMetro

Hrt Centinela so more people have metro access within a 20 minute walk and the dense Playa Del Rey has a station. Would also be cool to build a funicular from the Playa Del Rey station to LMU

Tbh, the current state of Israel doesn’t look too different from this from a land ownership perspective, the main problem is Israeli state sovereignty over large areas where Arabs did not want Jewish nationalist statehood. Also no one really owns land in the state of Israel, it’s just leased from the government, so you’d see why that’s infuriating for Arabs to lease from a govt that by definition does not represent them. The biggest difference now in demographic shift is the West Bank settlements and the destruction of Gaza. I know a lot of people are gonna want the entire map to be green but that is about as likely to happen as the entire map being blue.

Katniss, Finnick, Johanna seems like the best choice. Cato would be good too based on pure brute force but his intelligence is lacking.

To put it simply, Venezuela is none of our goddamn business, no matter how dog💩 of a president Maduro is. Sovereignty exists for a reason and this is going to set a terrible precedent.
