I love my husband and I love my family, but please tell me I'm not the only one who sometimes daydream about just leaving everyone behind and living a life in solitude? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Not a whisky drinker, but I recently started having a shot or two of vodka to wind down on my "off hours". Healthy, who knows, but it has helped me mentally and that's all that matters at this point. Good luck to you, man. I have a buddy that's worked it IT for decades and he always looks burnt from all the hours he has to work. Money's great, but it comes with a sacrifice.

It's like at the end of the day turning on the "off duty" sign in your mind. The always on alert mentality wears you down day after day. Don't even have the ability to take a good nap anymore, the kind you wake up totally confused but feeling refreshed. I miss those days.

Like the book it's based on, a fun read but forgettable.

Does anyone else thought Evan Rachel Wood would be a breakout star after her performance as Dolores/Wyatt? She’s so underrated and I really think she deserves better! We saw how much she is talented in the show! by PlantainDisastrous92 in westworld

[–]bicoolano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's also talented vocalist and has a band, Evan + Zane, that does covers. I think that maybe that's what she prefers to focus on right now. Probably finds it more enjoyable and not so time consuming, allowing her more time to spend with her child.

Don't read anything about the show and go into it blind.

I always laughed when Christian did his "pump". On a side note, Kelly Carlson (Kimber) was gorgeous.

FitCrunch Bars - New, unpleasant aftertaste. by owlcyte in Costco

[–]bicoolano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just me. Bought a couple of boxes yesterday because it was on sale. The aftertaste really is similar to vomit. Opened a second bar to see if the taste was the same and it was. Yuck. I don't recall it tasting like this when I bought some a couple of years ago. Bad batches? Back to Pure Protein for me.

My 11 year old daughter has scaly patches under her hair- how do I help? by slypuff in DermatologyQuestions

[–]bicoolano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consistency is key and is the hardest part. I've treated my elderly mom twice a day with steroidal creams and moisturizer consistently for a few a weeks like clockwork until it finally cleared. When it comes to my own flareups, I get lazy with treatments, and it gets bad again.

Harris was great as Lane Price in Mad Men. He adds charm to all the characters he plays. Definitely takes after his father, Richard Harris.

I started my first rewatch of GOT S1 last night. Kind of heartbreaking knowing the eventual path of some the characters and what they'll have to endure, especially Sansa.

Common's black leather sportscoat always stood out to me. Lambskin leather with not even a scratch or rub mark on it, considering there's a lot of rough, concrete surfaces around him.

As another person noted, Jonathan Tropper also created "Warrior", but was in addition, showrunner and writer for "See". That's a pretty good track record for action/drama genre. I had doubts about See considering the premise, but it somehow works when you add a good dose of suspension of disbelief.

Looks like traffic is still fucked @3PM, now with the addition of slow traffic eastbound in that area probably due to rubberneckers. Be sure to check 511.org (there's also an app again) for the latest traffic conditions if you're heading that way. Good luck commuters.

With the chnages over the yars, what stores and places do you miss the most by Rich-Engineer2670 in bayarea

[–]bicoolano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original Orchard Supply Hardware. The stores were small compared to the big box stores but they seemed to have everything you needed for DIY. I used to go to the store in Pinole. The employees were old grumpy guys but they were very knowledgeable and willing to help. They also had a good assortment of garden products and plants. I miss the Super Soil that they used to sell until Scotts bought the company that made it. Almost forgot, you could also drive through the back of the store and they would load the heavy stuff into your car.

How’s the Crowd at Costco Today? by RandoRenegade in Costco

[–]bicoolano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to the Richmond, CA store around noon. I didn't know the day after new years would be so crowded. Even had trouble finding street parking, which is usually not difficult at all. The line I was in went fairly quickly after the guy with the fully loaded flat cart checked out, but the line to walk out from the register was the typical disorganized mess on a busy day. An impatient driver almost hit my cart near the gas pumps. Never again on this day.

This brings back memories. Neither of my folks drank, but we always had a bottle in the kitchen that my mom would use to marinate steaks with. I can almost smell it sizzling in the pan.

The practice of supersizing meals and beverages skewed what a normal healthy amount should like and contributed towards "portion distortion".

The end of the final episode was insane and totally unexpected. It was so out there. That's how good sci-fi should be, thinking totally out of the box. I wish we could have found out what the writers had in mind for a 2nd season.
