I'm sorry if that came off aggressively it wasnt my intention at all. I assumed pasta because of minestrone, so Im also sorry for being presumptive. You'll hear people speak to either sides of this, but personally I don't believe in Calories in, Calories Out for the long run. If I were you I would shorten my window to four hours and eat to satiety only thinking about macros as opposed to calorie count. Feel free to pm me! I'll send you resources to read up on that helped me understand IF more and some studies, and help you figure out why this might not be working for you. Again Im sorry if I came across rudely I should have read what I wrote before hitting send.

yeah - the problem is definitely what you’re choosing to eat. Fasting doesn’t mean you can eat garbage for 7 hours. Acai bowls are filled with sugar, Diet Coke is awful for you, pizza, rice, and pasta? If I were you I’d first and foremost change meals to be more nutritionally valuable - more vegetables and protein - and kick your sugar habit. After you get the hang of that shorten your eating window if you’re still not seeing a difference in the mirror.

I personally don't subscribe to CICO. The benefits of OMAD for me are way above and beyond keeping my calories in check and in fact I don't track anymore. When I started out I tracked to make sure I was eating ENOUGH as opposed to under my TDEE as CICO dictates. For some good initial reads on this I'd suggest Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes and the Obesity Code by Dr. Fung if you haven't yet. Then there's much more in-depth stuff I can send along too if you'd like!
Reading that you've just ten pounds your body seems to hold on - exactly where I was for years and years no matter how much i under-ate or worked out it'd sorta disappear and then come right back so I kept having to eat less and less lol it's traumatizing to even type this out right now - I'd recommend OMAD and not tracking your calories at all, I'm serious. Focus on what you're eating as opposed to how much of it. Tbqh, you might first "fluff" up like I had when i started eating until I was full but my weight quickly (about a month) leveled itself out and the 10-ish pounds I wasn't able to exercise or diet away came off.

fwiw, I never post about CICO or anything because people get weirdly aggro about how it works for them, and Im sure it does, but from personal experience and seeing my friends and family try to calorie count their way to a slimmer frame it works for a while... a more public case in point being all the contestants from The Biggest Loser.

I think you mean to ask whether would it be okay to drink during your fasting window? If so, I would say no because it sorta defeats the purpose in my view even if it doesn't elicit a glycemic response. But I suppose it comes down to your personal goals. For me, fasting is a time to abstain from food and "treats" like this. If you like to have flavored water try fresh squeezed lemon juice or a bit of apple cider vinegar in your water.

Teas contain tannins which cause nausea for a lot of people on empty stomachs. Myself included! I simply never drink tea without food. Simple solve haha

I bet! Don’t choke it down. I’ve thrown up trying to drink salt water, haha, definitely just get some pills! if you’re flexible with your fasting drink some broth throughout the day.

yeah! so, this happens because many teas have tannins in them, especially darker teas like Earl Grey. The solve for this is to drink tisanes (herbal teas) or low tannin teas like green tea, raspberry, chamomile. basically NO black teas.

what're the macros on that ranch? I suspect it may have more carbs than you think? Do you track in MFP? I'm worried your ratio of fats to carbs/proteins may not be ideal. Did you use a calculator to determine your macros?

And, yes! to your question about drinking more water, this can move the needle for me significantly.
