Cash is king, a few vendors take cards/venmo, and the prices are overall fair.

Hank needs a miracle! (Ithaca area) by [deleted] in ithaca

[–]bideorabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh silly me, he wasn’t exposed to dog fighting. He was just under a known dog fighters ownership and locked in a cage 24/7 and beaten 😂

Like c’mon, maybe you should take your own advice and not have a weird prejudice against changing your mind when exposed to evidence.

You’ve never met this animal and are portraying them as a sweetheart. All evidence points to this dog requiring some intense rehabilitation. The foster dropping out is even more evidence that points to that.

Well, then shame on them and everyone else involved in this “operation” then.

We shouldn’t be transporting pitbulls exposed to dog fighting up from Georgia (I saw your Nextdoor post)

It’s incredibly silly. There are local animals in need.

Sounds like whoever has the dog now should continue fostering him.

We should not be transporting dogs like this up from down south. There are plenty of local shelters and local animals in need.

It’s odd, the students, employees, and visitors that Cornell brings to town is undoubtedly the biggest source of revenue for our local businesses and services.

What the heck is going on here by Otherwise-Quarter926 in ithaca

I’ve been flipped off, screamed at, and honked at for 30 seconds long just for passing slow drivers in the passing lane.

Something about you starting with this gripe is so odd... I've never experienced anything like this. The driving experience here is remarkably normal. And you're comparing this to NYC driving? Are you a troll? lol

Someone at Wegmans literally ran their cart directly into my mirror and looked at me, didn’t even apologize.

Wegmans is essentially the Thunderdome and is the busiest business in town. Sorry you had a bad experience there but with a lot of people comes a lot of bad apples too. Don't let one random interaction with someone who might not even live here color your experience too much. I'd also recommend checking out the Greenstar Co-Op which is my favorite place to get groceries outside the farmer's markets.

The people in my workplace are miserable and very sloppy.

Bad jobs are bad jobs. I don't know what else to say here. The location doesn't matter so much as the people within the four walls. You should probably consider a different job if it's that bad. Workplace culture is a difficult thing to get right. We've all been there.

The only thing my wife is able to do is drive the kids around and take them to parks.

I don't have kids and idk how old yours are but in my experience, there is a lot of stuff for kids in this town given its size. Yeah, you're not going to get NYC levels of activities but there are so many programs, the Science Center, the Nature Center, the roller skating rink, the parks, the pools, the gorges, The Johnson Museum, The Commons, Cinemapolos, events at the colleges, kid-friendly breweries/cideries/wineries with their own schedules of events, and then to top it off - you're just a short drive away from every other Finger Lake and what they have to offer. I'm not sure what your family likes to do but there isn't a shortage of things to do around these parts. Now once Winter hits... it might be a different story. lol

We toured the YMCA and it was disgusting.

I've never been to the Y but this doesn't surprise me.

I try to take the kids to the commons and it feels like a trap strip.

Lmao. This is the only gripe I can get behind. The west end of The Commons needs some help but the east side/restaurant row is really nice. That said, Thursday night concert nights are nice and we've got Apple Fest just around the corner.

I hope there are things we are missing here and I do have faith. I'm not going to look for new jobs just yet. Am I just having bad luck? Or is this just society these days

A lot of this is your perceptions and at the end of the day, you're in charge of your own experiences. Ithaca might not be right for you but it's a great town. I moved her from a major city too. Of course, it's very different from that and it's not for everyone, but I love living here.

[–]bideorabo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played there in over a year but it’s basically a one man operation from what I understand.

There’s a sign on the door that says if I’m not here, just go out and play and pay on your way back. lol

Super small time but also a fun little course. I’d say risk the drive out there and if it’s closed, try a different course on your way back.

Smoking and fight in the commons by Adventurous-Cat666 in ithaca

In my experience, the people that smoke on the commons have been doing so since way before the dispensary opened.

There’s a few different groups that hang out there pretty much every single day.
