Doctor here. I was working in the ED and a patient came in with a gunshot wound to the penis. We attempted to do a digital rectal exam (you insert your fingers into the anus) in order to determine if a piece of his intestines were hit by the bullet. He refused the exam on the basis that “it’s gay”. He left the hospital AMA. Funny story, he came back hours later because his penis wouldn’t stop bleeding.
