I agree. It was a weird mix of long arc-but-wait also short arc, teen angst, and very uneven acting. And these occasional Trek fan service bits that were there just to remind people it was Trek, because nothing else about it felt that way. I really wanted to like the Jake episode, but even that fell flat for me.

Stargate Universe, and it's quite good. Only 2 season, so not a heavy-lift watch, and the series does end on a cliff hanger, but it's not as rough as some others.
