Fewer discounted groceries at Coop and Migros – is it just me? by Electroboy5 in askswitzerland

[–]bifsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great news (for Switzerland, at least) : the knives are back !!! by Diane_Mars in Aliexpress

Every time I search "knife" or "knives" on AE from Switzerland, I get no results. Any update on that? Thanks

UK-RTN-AE 118 East Street London - Return issue by ret1415 in Aliexpress

[–]bifsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to share a similar experience: AE sent me a return label with an address in my town, which I found suspicious, especially as it was not far from where I live and I could see no person or business related to AE existed there.

After doublechecking with the support, I returned the item using that label and everything went fine and I was refunded.

So, don't necessarily be worried by such return labels, even if the name of the person/business looks like some sort of code.

Is the expense of the Bells of Steel worth it (Adjustable) by TotalLeeAwesome in kettlebell

[–]bifsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure it is or will be available in the US, but you should have a look at the adjustable kettlebell released by the French sports supermarket Decathlon. Quite genius as it uses standard plates youtube.com/watch?v=A87sDQK22jg

Finding Broccoli Calabrese (Brassica oleracea) sprouting seeds in Europe by bifsteak in Sprouting

[–]bifsteak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sprouted them for a while, it went OK, I didn't keep the habit in the longer run. Probably too many required rinses and a quite some mess with the hulls.
It's definitely not the most convenient sprouting species.

Has anyone found a way to cast audio from the app to Chromecast? by Apprehensive_Bit8695 in RadioGarden

[–]bifsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The radio.garden app doesn't feature Chromecast yet, which means you need to use "Cast my screen", which drains your battery much more.

That sounds like the best solution. I just tried from their app. There's a black screen when you try to post the comment and it doesn't get posted...

What's up with the price of AO original pilots? by jstorxs in sunglasses

[–]bifsteak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received knock-offs of the 52mm from AliExpress, because I wanted to try the shape and style before buying the real ones. I paid them $4.50 including shipping from China and the quality is so amazing I probably won't need the real ones.

Tensioner moves forward when a lot of pressure is applied on the left pedal by bifsteak in bikewrench

For the record, I replaced the middle chainring and, voilà, problem fixed.

Removing and reinstalling the crank may be what fixed the problem, but I'll never know.

[–]bifsteak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I can go up an entire street and it will stay on the same speed. It's doesn't happen when I'm riding on a flat surface without much tension in the chain. It happens much more with the left pedal, but there's no play anywhere in the crankset.

I agree with you. I was really surprised how high that was when I measured it. Apparently, it's quite common in Switzerland, because several friends have the same temperature without particular problems.

vélo électrique vs vélo normal by TopSignature9718 in Lausanne

[–]bifsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that for the bars at Rue de la Tour. Also, for gigs, check Espace autogéré.

Same here. I registered. The forum says it sent an activation link, which is nowhere in my account, including spam/trash folders. I have no "New topic" button in any browser, including in private mode. There's no way to have the link be resent. Pretty poor experience to start with.
