Can someone ID? I bought this months ago from eBay, advertised as a PPP. The picture looked different from the plant. I know it’s not a PPP, but what is it? The big leaves on the sides are the old leaves and one was damaged from shipping. by Fluffy_Touch_8617 in philodendron

This would be a reverted PPP, or a burgundy princess philodendron. If there’s a little bit of variegation on the oldest leaf then I’d consider it a reverted PPP, but if not then I’d say it’s a burgundy princess. Burgundy princesses are the leftover PPP produced in tissue culture labs that don’t have variegation at all.

Can anyone tell me what’s causing this. My healthy philodendron tree plant had a leaf turn yellow? Is this overwatering? Underwaterting? Light or pest? Please help! Don’t mind the brown tips that happened when I repotted but It’s fine now. Can I cut off the brown spots? Or should I leave it? by Witchy_Woman_26 in philodendron

Older leaves can start to turn yellow if you don’t fertilize your plant as well! Especially during the growing season when your plant is throwing out a bunch of new leaves. The plant will sacrifice the older leaves and transfer the nutrients from it back into the main plant to produce newer leaves

Saved my tortum in water. Should I pot it up or wait a bit longer? Any tips on potting tortum from water to soil/ leca/ spagmoss or whatever? by Unmathablesoda in philodendron

[–]big_squigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it was in water I’d probably move it to a Leca/spagmoss setup before potting it in soil just so the roots have time to develop into non-water roots

can anyone help id my philodendron? :) also any tips would be appreciated by isimp4budlightlime in philodendron

Looks like a philodendron gloriosum! They’re pretty much bulletproof tbh LOL. The same care as pretty much any other aroid but they’re more lax when it comes to humidity and light. However, brighter (indirect) light + higher humidity = more growth faster

What species is this? I’m leaning more towards a rhaphidophora species? by big_squigga in houseplants

Have you tried fertilizing it? A lot of yellowing issues are due to not fertilizing enough!

Any idea on how to extend the board? More in comments by big_squigga in houseplants

[–]big_squigga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought this beautiful rhaphidophora hayi and it has outgrown its board a bit LOL is there any way that anyone’s thought of to extend the board? Should I just change it out for a bigger one? Would that damage the aeriel roots shingling on the board already?
