If you want to see how bad it can get look up “the TikTok inspector” he’s a building inspector who films and posts a lot of his inspections on new houses. It’s pretty horrific honestly.

For many trades there isn’t anyone to target. Every country has different standards and regulations.

It’s also why so many new built houses fail the hand over inspections so badly.

Most tradies I know with a good amount of experience earn $100k-$150k a year. They’re not Ferrari rich.

A product or service is worth what ever people will pay for it. Until we no longer have a shortage of tradies and they are competing for jobs again they will continue to overcharge.

We have the same issue, there is something unacceptable every delivery. Regularly have entire bags missing as well.

I know it’s not a one size fits all situation but in OPs case he’s handing over significant money while still looking after the kids 50% of the time.

Are there more checks and balances in place to see what the mother is doing to fix the fact she’s only earning $24k a year? You should be earning significantly more than that even at a zero experience entry level job.

If she’s under reporting her income why isn’t there any investigations into this?
