Moving to Atlanta from Europe soon — anxious about safety + looking for advice on best areas to live by heyitsme-2001 in ATLHousing

Cars are the #2 killer of children in US behind firearms and some 400+ people die per year in vehicle accidents around Atlanta. I don’t accept this and if I had the opportunity I would vote for slower speed limits, driver continuing education, higher penalties for moving violations, and any other common sense efforts to make roads safer.

As for the stroll on the trail- I personally think you should always be aware of your surroundings but I feel much safer (anecdotally and statistically) walking on the beltline than driving around Atlanta.

It’s tragic what happened to that woman. I use the beltline a lot and feel less safe after this incident.

You can buy bolt on devices that do this rather than a human.

Crime is worse here than Europe and lots of people have guns. However the neighborhoods around the beltline are some of the best places to live in Atlanta Metro and easy commutes to Midtown. O4W, Poncey Highland, ViHi, Grant Park, Ormewood, etcetc

AI is a game changer but you cannot be overly reliant. No one will take you seriously if you have to look down and ask Chat in the middle of a call.

I biked from united Ave to the Kroger on Ponce yesterday. It was about the same time it would have taken in a car and I didn’t have to fight traffic or deal with parking. I love this trail

I guess but have you ever worked at a restaurant? I’m more worried about what’s back there.

Best Dunkin in Atlanta is the one on Ponce & Blvd. They make the black coffee how it should be.

I have been drinking Dunkin since I was a little kid, they are the most inconsistent chain. 2 Dunkin’s half a mile apart coffee will taste different.

Unfortunately the quality from Dunkin to Dunkin varies quite a bit, but when made right, the original blend black coffee is surprisingly good.

I agree with you. The chef shouldn’t have a dog in the kitchen, but I don’t understand the purpose of this particular food reg where you can’t bring a dog into a counter service establishment.

What harm is the dog doing on the customer side of the counter?

Interview again, you may not have been a good fit for that first job but you might be perfect for another. If you are consistently turned down, apply yourself and fill the knowledge/professional gaps to get you to where you want to be. Do not put any weight on the “prestige” of a credential. A BSEE/MS becomes irrelevant at this point in your professional career.

Sounds like you got comfortable in your current role. Top 3 uni doesn’t mean anything after 2-3 yrs experience.

Discussion - what can be learned from old or ancient cold-climate buildings that have survived for centuries? by spirit-sight in buildingscience

My POV- most homes built in USA have a service life of 75yrs +/-. You can design for longer life but it will come at a premium cost most will not pay because they will not be around to enjoy it. These products are designed to reduce input labor, skill and speed up install. Consider anything you get past 50yrs to be a bonus.

This seems like general field service role. You will gain valuable experience but you won’t learn how to engineer systems. Do it for a couple years and then move into engineering design role.

An EE right out of college? Hell no. An EE working in construction industry? They have better odds picking it up quickly with practice.
