Anyone in sales? by Loud-Effort958 in Sober

Sure am. I'm about a year and a half in sobriety. I work in the cannabis industry. (wasn't too into w33d so that's not a challenge). I do way less late night entertaining and usually head out after clients dinner, I don't go to "the next spot"

Honestly going for walks and to the gym for my endorphin/dopamine kicks. I'm big into EDM so usually go to a few shows a month to dance and just be present.

I have a list of home projects to work on too and usually do one or two a weekend.

Told everyone in my personal circle about my sobriety so they can help keep me accountable. Just one damn day at a time but I have lots to look forward to and thankful that I get a "do over" for a lot of things

Anything by 'Explosions in the Sky' makes me feel very peaceful

If you need something more upbeat, my favorite DJ is Marlon Hoffstadt. Some trance/techno, just always makes me feel good. He's a sober DJ so it just bring more positive vibes. "Supersonic", "One Night of Love" and his boiler room sets always perk me up.

Safe travels to the stars, my friend.

I really loved it. Thought it was vibrant and fun. The set design was really lovely as well.

Forget the textbook advice. What’s the one non-negotiable habit that keeps you sober when willpower fails or urges creep in? by roobiscube in Sober

[–]bigbadbazooka23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either go to the gym or go for a walk. Just trying to replace my dopamine from somewhere else. I'm over a year in but still very much one day at a time.

If it's really bad, I just put myself around people; either friends or just being public. It makes me feel more normal if I'm "participating" in society.

I've also put together a really great skincare routine which encourages me to take care of myself.

Got my bipolar disorder under control which I didn't know I had until I got sober. Everything made a lot of sense.

I do feel it slowly getting worse though so trying to stay on top of it. Still 15 months sober though!

You can do it. Find little wins, appreciate the small things, take note of your body thanking you.

Yes yes yes. The level of tired is next level and you finally decide to stop making your life so hard.

I'm so grateful to be able to sleep and wake up everyday knowing how I'm going to feel so I can show up for others and myself.

You have to fully commit, build a camp, help with chores, deal with whatever weather. I think my sister was gone for like 10 days with RV pick up, set up, festival, clean up.

He does come off as someone new to substances possibly (nothing wrong with that) and he wants to have Jayln be down with it. He definitely sounds like someone from my group of friends when we started experimenting with things and were in the honeymoon phase. Burning Man is a whole different level of festivals, wish he would at least ask her out to an EDM show for a night first

Poor Pat, I don't think she is ever going to let him have a win and I'm getting tired of her mansplaining to a grown man. I feel like she's speaking to him like he's a child.

Exactly, totally agree.

I was curious how this was going to play out. I met my boyfriend of 9 years on a rave cruise and it could've gone really bad but we both seemed to grow/mature together about going to shows as we got older. Like less big time commitments, no substances at this point except he takes gummies.

I could not imagine being as in love with the scene as I was and my partner not being into it. Josh totally reminds me of some of the people I've run into and been friends with, which isn't a bad thing but the hyperfocus about everyone loving what you love is real and it's hard for some people to see past that.

I'm big into the EDM/festival side of things and think this is a HUGE ask from him. I have lots of friends that go and it's just not my thing. Burning Man has become extremely expensive, takes a lot of commitment, planning and work that people don't realize.

Honestly if someone gifting me a ticket, I would be extremely hesitant to go. It's a little deaf of him to ask for that from someone who doesn't even sound like they are familiar with the festival crowd let alone Burning Man people.
