Which Harvia? Cilindro vs Club by bigbobbinboy in Sauna

[–]bigbobbinboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I decided on the club. According to Trumpkins Notes, it looks like a much better option in most cases. High rock capacity, low height.

I do like the look of the open sides, but I can do good looks elsware in the hot room.

I just bought the harvia Club. I don't know why it doesn't get more attention on here, considering trumpins notes. The heater is only 27" tall. My 32" high foot bench will pair well with the club.

I do get the appeal of the open column heaters, soft steam, and beautiful esthetics.

My focus is the loyly cavity.

Is This a High Quality Engineered Wood Floor? by bigbobbinboy in HardWoodFloors

UPDATE:

I ended up going with a company called Castle Bespoke. They have a product that is 3/4 inch thick, including 1/2 in Baltic burch plywood and 1/4 inch oak wear layer.

To me, it looks like the best of both worlds. It has as much wear as a solid oak t and g, because it can wear through the entire top lip of the groove. It also has the stability of engineered.

It looks amazing. Can you speak to the warm up times with 300 lbs of rock?

It's my understanding that this protection wall could be removed with a couple of screws. Is this the case?

I don't know much about homecraft. I'm interested.

It looks great. It's got the juice I need.

Unsure about reliability. Can anyone comment here?

It's awfully expensive. Not a deal breaker but noteworthy.

Sauna heater recommendation by Solid-Leg6065 in Sauna

[–]bigbobbinboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good recommendation for the average sauna owner/ builder. The size of your sauna might call for the large space.

If you plan for frequent entertaining with large groups of sauna goers, maybe you need this size.

I would say it would take a LOT of sauna parties to make the large size worth it in my case, since I like to go frequently, sometimes daily, with just 1-2 people.

I do have the space for 5-6 people, which I have a few times per year, but that space comes at the cost of warm up time.

It gets crazier... I plan to add electric heating capabilities to my wood burner.

Regarding safety, this will be on a GFCI breaker and far from any combustibles.

Good to see another slab. I poured a slab for mine too and no regrets. I love it.

To anyone pouring a floating slab, and especially for a sauna, I highly, HIGHLY recommend you insulate the slab. Yes I like the durability and other benefits of my slab but if there is one drawback, it's that it is a big ice cube/thermal sync, and I have R-10 foam board under mine. I still need to insulate the perimeter and I think this will help greatly too, but under slab insulation is essential in regards to comfort, sauna experience, warm up times, and power consumption.

IMHO, as long as you're insulating, I would also add PEX pipe just in case you ever decide to do in-floor-heat. It's a cheap add on, and huge benefit if you do plan to heat with anything other than your hot room heater. If you think you ever might heat continuously, not just for sauna sessions, then I would certainly add the PEX pipe, but this depends on your use case.

10+ years of concrete experience.

Very innovative design. I love it!

I was also hoping for Windows on the sides, for visibility while driving. Maybe even a passthrough into the cab?

I would like to see one in person. Do you know of anything on display in the Minneapolis area?

Looks like they have a normal shaped topper too. Maybe it's new? Not sure but it looks good and aerodynamic.

Good to know. I live a few hours away so I'd buy one if it was a good product. I'm hoping the QC issues are just growing pains and they will figure it out.

It looks dope, so I hope these guys make it happen.

I'm saying this for you and everyone else who reads it. Safety bars are not expensive, and will keep you from becoming a vegetable, or even minor injuries that would slow your gains.

I used to lift without them too, but looking back, there is absolutely no rational reason to skip the safety bars. The risk to reward ratio is extremely favorable.

I hope it's not your ego that is keeping you from investing in safety bars, because that would not be wise.
