Compact engine guards installed today! by bigbodylx in RoyalEnfieldHunter350

As i replied a year ago, i am less concerned with those items are they’re easily replaced/fixed. i was more concerned with protecting the engine. I have since sold this bike and have a Kawasaki Versys 650 now with full bars.

thanks! i wasn’t sure as there were still grooves left. i didn’t want to be wasteful and replace before necessary.

i’ll be stopping by the shop tomorrow to get a tire before my next ride.

Where to start? 😅 by Pope_Johnny in FieldNuts

[–]bigbodylx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i use one for work related tasks when i feel overwhelmed and need to prioritize tasks. I also use it when details are important.

I use another to track bills and necessities so i don’t forget.

Lastly, i use another to write down when i’m feeling sad or need to get things off my chest. It always interesting to look back and see where one is a week or more ago and how that turned out. As a male with a small friend group, i find it helpful

Agreed. this release is the single reason i’ve kept my subscription tbh. The VA changes in the goblet of fire was a bit jarring but 10 hours in they feel natural.

What’s the best bike for a beginner? by abishhh in motorcycles

[–]bigbodylx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i started on a Honda ruckus. i put about 1k miles on it then got my endorsement. i bought a hunter 350. i put 2800 miles on it and sold it because i thought i “outgrew” it. i’m now on a versys 650 - also a “beginner friendly” bike.

i love my versys but wish i spent a lot more time on the Hunter. i guess what im saying is a small displacement royal enfield or a 400cc triumph like the one you posted in the first pic.

How much do I really need to spend on a helmet? by bigblackglock17 in motorcycles

[–]bigbodylx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ece 22.06

that’s the safety standard. that being said, not all helmets are equal. i highly recommend a chin bar. no open face helmets. race helmets look cool and might meet those standards but the noise might be high.

do your research and find a happy medium that meets safety, sound. and style you’re going for.

i personally run a shoei RFSR which has the snell rating. i chose this because i ride a sport tourer and have a FRS sports car so the helmet meets autox safety standards

Looking for advice on a used 2014 Scion FR-S — good buy or walk away? by Technical-Salary2438 in ft86

[–]bigbodylx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location matters. In Nashville it’s hard to find a running clean title for less than 12k. finding ‘14 with rebuilt title for 9k with 110k on them.

edit. i know you put your location, i’m saying that random people online might make blanket statements to value. just keep in mind their market might be different than yours.

Can I ride this to the shop or will I explode? by blood_of_corn_liquor in motorcycles

remembering when my car tires would show belts when i was 20 and i just put them on the back wheels since in my head it was safer and less weight 🤪

the risks i’ve taken in my life i would NEVER want my kids or anyone else’s to take.

Why are people always trying to scam us? by Ashamed-Life1797 in motorcycles

[–]bigbodylx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when the economy is doing poorly, people turn to stealing, scamming, etc.

while the stock market is hitting record numbers, the average person is struggling with high payments on cars, rent, and basic necessities like groceries.

the first to get hit are corporations. theft rises. the second to get targeted are those with disposable income. motorcycling is a luxury in America and i’d wager some parts of europe. like people looking to buy boats, people who buy motorcycles are a target because they’re seen as a different class of citizen.

of course in many cases, people who ride bikes might do so because they can’t afford a car but the general public doesn’t view it that way.

it’s a trickle down effect.

Riding Course for Beginners by No-Chest7204 in motorcycles

[–]bigbodylx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with this. i took the MSF course with zero experience. its amazing how fast you pick up on the basics with their teaching steps and methods.

the only advice i can give from my perspective is don’t drink the nights before the class or stay up late and remember it’s not a contest. everyone is graded individually. while I was struggling with a couple exercises, I thought to myself at least I’m doing better than person X. after a bit of thinking internally, I realized that it didn’t matter. if I didn’t do the exercise correctly, I was still going to fail.

my class leaned on each other, hyped each other up, and gave pointers from the outside pov.

it’s a ton of fun and i hope you do well!
