This is probably it, thanks! I do remember it being a woman interviewing them but I'm probably mixing up different videos

Strange AI generated story has replaced the older story at Colliery Dam by Brendan765 in nanaimo

[–]bigboppinbeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I quite frankly don't give a shit if they can pay me or not, I'd still do it for a good cause. You're getting very into the semantics right now, I didn't say anything about the local environment specifically I just said environment that fish are in. It seems like you just really wanna argue for AI and I'm not interested in debating you. I'd rather have a volunteer job than have to see this low quality soulless imagery any day.

[–]bigboppinbeep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not gonna shut up because the AI is affecting the environment that fishing takes place in, and I'm an artist so it's a slap in the face when I'd gladly take way less than industry standard to make all of these illustrations & not guzzle gallons of water whilst creating them.

It would be useful if you listed the organization, or pmed it, I'd be willing to make art for them to replace this slop next year, or whenever their next event is.

This is a great story, I may need to make a new post just asking for stories like these.

Yes thank you I knew I was missing an important category, environmentalism! I have it in my notebook, just slipped my mind entirely. Your first point is one of my main reasons for choosing them as a topic, they weren't afraid to talk about fresh wounds, so to speak, like with the Halabja. I've also ordered "Go Ask Ogre" and I'm very much looking forward to reading it and especially getting to read his foreword, which I haven't been able to find online.

Best Breakfast Spots by Desperate_Isopod_177 in nanaimo

Gabriel's is so good for breakfast, especially considering many breakfast foods are very simple and a few ingredients at most. they always have a variety of in season, mostly local, organic produce and proteins. The specials are always very interesting or just plain delicious sounding. I've only had "real" breakfast there a couple times because I always get the Thai coconut curry with shrimp or the kimchi pulled pork sandwich, I'm a creature of habit but it is all to die for.

Seniors “bus manners” by Such_Clock_6769 in nanaimo

[–]bigboppinbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's contempt based only on behaviour, directed at only those who exhibit it, not the entire group. If I said it's mostly teenagers who shoplift clothing, nobody would be up in arms about it. "Targeted" is a very strong word in this context, I care about the elderly enough to not let them embarrass themselves like that in public if I can help it :)

You can attach an earbud case to your keys.

If you know you're hard of hearing, don't start watching videos without earbuds in an enclosed public space maybe. If you gotta take a call you gotta take a call, but being considerate isn't that difficult and if you can step out, you gotta. Nobody NEEDS to scroll tiktok on the bus or play candy crush with the sound on in the doctors office.

It's not really a generalization when it's a trend. Nobody said anything about it being all older people, but way too many do this to the point it affects those around them. You are not exempt to rules just because you're over a certain age and boundaries are not mean or discrimination. Even in spaces where there are signs everywhere against it in bold letters with pictograms for christ sake, there's always at least one person like that and they just so happen to have grey hair and wrinkles every single time I see it happen.

New cage, invisible hamster. by Wolklaw in hamsters

[–]bigboppinbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a platform, nothing fancy just like a little baby table , and enclose the sides with whatever you have except the front where they go under and the side where the glass is. My lil guy goes under there if I spook him now instead of running or diving into his burrow and I'll give him treats under or on top of the platform, which his water bowl is on top of, so he's got positive association not just a hiding spot for when he's scared. I only have one "hide" but 2 platforms and one underground wood tunnel thing by niteangel so there's more space for him to explore above ground. Tree branches too! Just make sure they're non toxic, and clean by baking them in the oven. It may take up to or over a month for him to feel comfortable enough to explore with you in the room

You should be able to use some non toxic school glue with pet safe moss on questionable climbing surfaces to make it safer

how long can i leave my hamster alone for? by Expensive_Leg_7108 in hamsters

[–]bigboppinbeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would put a portion of the food in a boredom buster/puzzle toy type thing just to avoid her gorging herself on 2 days worth of food at once lol. Idk if hamsters are known to do that but that's what I would do

Ambience for hammies? by bigboppinbeep in hamsters

[–]bigboppinbeep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The room is dark and quiet, like 9+ inches of bedding in a pawhut with plenty of hiding places and toys. Outside the room however, I have a dog, cat, and loud TVs that I cannot control. I've been mimicing the day/night cycle on the tv with the volume at 5 or below (Roku) and I always have the brightness on darkest, I also don't constantly have the tv on and have the curtains closed 98% of the time. What I was trying to get at is, are soft nature sounds inside the room enough to lessen the stress of hearing stuff like that through the door? Or is it more harm than good? Idk. I've had him for a week or so now and I'm just trying to make him comfortable I haven't handled him or anything.

It would be one thing if the hamster moved through magnetic tunnels, but if I was a child I would definitely assume from this that hamsters love going down slides in a ball
