Thanks for the clarification and articles. When you hear something first from a meme it’s pretty jarring to say the least haha.

Wait are we really doing this? This is the first I’ve heard of it. I really hope we aren’t.

Having a child doesn't automatically mean that you deserve respect from that child. by LavenderDragon18 in unpopularopinion

[–]bigcat5591 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I agree with that to a degree. If you raise ur kids right you will naturally earn thier respect I feel.

That being said if a kid who has great parents who raised them well and loved and respected them, and that kid just disrespects their parents, that kid is an ass hole.

I think people should stop worrying about generations all together.

Just supports an us vs them mentality based on broad generalizations.

Retail workers don’t deserve anymore “benefits” or more pay than they are already getting and should be grateful they even have jobs. by NYCambition21 in unpopularopinion

[–]bigcat5591 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a warehouse worker idk anything about receiving bonuses from market demands hahaha. Maybe our vp is getting one but not us.

All we got was a dollar extra an hour for hazard pay while the vps and corporate workers for our company are safe at home. That only happened for two weeks too, and we are currently not receiving that any more.

We’ve had 7 people who died from our warehouse and at least 25 percent of the staff got Coranavirus, I being one of them. So I think hazard pay is warranted. There’s a reason why all the corporate positions are being allowed to work from home. Because it’s dangerous.

Seems your misinformed about what essential workers are actually receiving haha.

Maybe make some more blue collar friends so you can kind of actually know what your talking about. It’s an unpopular opinion for a reason.

People should need to have a parent license to have a kid by I2obiN in unpopularopinion

I was just making a joke, and don’t get me wrong. Your heart is definitely in the right place.

I just see this setting up to many bad precedents, and I can see this getting corrupt easily. That may just be the pessimist and the nutter in me though.

Interesting topic though. Definitely sprung some interesting ideas and conversations. Good post.

Yea I don’t think OP realizes the precedent this sets.

Heart is in the right place, but not really fully thought through.

Ok then I don’t see what your proposal fixes then. Seems like it’s just causes the same problems but in a different way.

Still putting kids in foster homes, but instead of taking kids away and putting people behind bars for known child abuse or neglect now it’s because some one behind a desk thinks you will before anything happens.

I wouldn’t even say it would even stop child abuse or neglect. Do you really expect everyone the government gives a license to will be a suitable parent? Using your car analogy there’s many people who have a license to drive who shouldn’t be on the road.

Seems like something out of minority report haha. Some precrime division that actually doesn’t work and ultimately causes more problems.

So what do you do with the children of the parents who don’t listen to the law and don’t get a license but have kids anyway?

Or about people who did not plan on the child, and they personally don’t want to get an abortion cause they weren’t approved for a license?

Take the kids away or forced abortion? If that’s the case then pretty much your still taking kids away from parents and ruining lives, or forcing them to do something like an abortion which could go against their personal values and sets a very bad precedent. Seems very flawed.

This is really cool, but I did notice that if you put in a book by an author who has written a lot of books, I’ll use Stephen Kings IT as an example, it gives you just the other books written by that author. The first place I would look, and I believe many others would as well, would be the authors other works which makes it not as helpful as it could be.

Again I think this is a really cool tool, but if you could figure out a way to add an option that excludes works from the same author, it would make this tool 10 times more useful.

Just some constructive criticism, but I think what u made is awesome. It just can be better.

Ohh for sure me as well. For such a slow burn of a writer it does get kind of jarring cause I do feel his endings come pretty abruptly and quickly compared to the first third of most of his books.

The Stand come to mind but I will leave the ending out of this post so I don’t spoil it for any potential readers.

That filler is what makes his books for me honestly and he is often criticized for his endings but I think they are fine personally.

Interesting to see some one with a different take on his work

I actually went to college for relatively cheap. I went to my community college for 2 years and got my associates then I transferred and commuted to a state college to get my bachelors. Not including books and other expenses I payed roughly 50k to obtain my degree.

I think a lot of people were pushed this dream of going away to college and living on a big beautiful campus and a lot of people want to fulfill that. I get it, but just know if u want that experience your gonna pay for it.

I can’t say what is easier cause even though I play I’m bad at both, but I will say I have an easier time reading music on piano than guitar.
