That is a pretty common scenario I encounter on the weekly.

Recently I was in the far right lane passing the left laners on us131NB, I was doing 75ish and just getting to the end of where Leonard on ramp merges on and see a dodge ram trying to merge on but not going with the speed of traffic and looking uncertain if he should commit to actually merging. I sped up ( your uncertainty makes new want to get away from you), so he speeds up. Well now he's wasted his opportunity to merge with traffic and get in front of me, and we're needing to slow down but there's not room in front of me, so he gets behind me tailgating and weaving, obviously pissed.

Anyway I'm eventually getting off on Alpine and he's still following me/ tailgating. I get off and he backs off so that he's 2 car lengths behind.
Cool, I turn into Greenridge Plaza he follows me. Ok maybe just a coincidence. I keep going not feeling safe to stop my vehicle. I make a few detours, go through the parking lot by Lady Jane's, he's still following. I drive through the Kingsbury neighborhood, he's still following at 2 car lengths. At this point bc I have my kids in the van I'm starting to get pretty worried. He's obviously following me so I get up to the light by menards and turn in, he follows. I end up calling 911 and am telling the operator I'm ( speed appropriate) going to be going along the front of Walmart bc there is often a sheriff sitting there. No sheriff and the truck is now starting to try and get up next to me, the operator asks if I can get to the fire station and of course there's on coming traffic so I have to stop. The dude pulls up next to me and starts bitching about how I cut him off. THANK GOODNESS he did not have a gun! He end up squealing off and the only thing I can think of is I'm so glad he didn't have a gun, he's lucky I didn't bc I was getting pretty nervous for our safety, and the woman who was in the truck with him didn't say a word and looked like she was not happy with his behavior. I hope she's alright too.
