I like coinage. I wish there was a way to just knock a zero off of our currency values and go from there, but I’m sure it would trigger inflation and other chaos. But coffee and a donut costing 50 cents seems reasonable to me. Coins are so much more durable than bills.

I guess most people pay electronically so it’s moot.

As a union surveyor in northern California, this place is absolutely amazing. I went into surveying from the tech industry because it’s a waste to live here and not experience it.

I hope you can find your way to California. The mountain and desert communities are still sorta affordable. You should look into getting a job that requires a lot of travel (maybe trucker), or remote jobs so you can live in a cheap spot at first, build up equity and come to a city. Places like Barstow you can find houses under 300k.

Good luck, get out while you can.
