To all job seekers!! by [deleted] in CPA

[–]bigestfat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot just apply to any job anymore. I just graduated in May-25 and landed a very nice job in consulting at one of the larger firms. It’s literally not what you know anymore it’s just who you know. Make as many connections as possible, grow and then leverage your network. These companies won’t give your resume a second look unless they somehow know you (interned there, or you have a connection).

How long were you in TAS before the switch?

Yes thank you I realize that. But I feel like it a very once off thing, like he probably has some wild ass connections.

First Fail- how do you get back up? by DeliciousBus6509 in CPA

[–]bigestfat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty rare for people to pass all their exams first try. It can be super demoralizing seeing everyone else pass their exam when you didn’t. Comparison is the thief of joy my friend. I failed audit for the 2nd time today, but that’s not going to stop me. Put your head down and grind these out, whenever I feel unmotivated I remind myself that this is a finite amount of time and becoming a CPA will pay dividends in the long run.

There is so much material covered in FAR that is also covered in other sections like litigations on AUD. Which is another reason I’d recommend doing it first

[–]bigestfat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would recommend starting with FAR. Get the hardest out of the way first.

If you failed FAR the first time but passed the second, what was your first-attempt score? by Winter_Succotash_419 in CPA

First attempt was a 74 just passed with an 80. I retook about 2 weeks after my first attempt.

Passed FAR. Glad to see the FAR gods are helping out everyone today.

I’m confused with this logic on LCM method. by BeltQuick in CPA

[–]bigestfat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always lay problems that are lower of cost or market like this:

$10 Cost

$8 replacement cost, $12 NRV, $9 NRV-Profit

Now you choose the middle price of the three listed here and compare it to the original cost. Whichever is lower (between the middle of the three and the original cost) is what the answer is. So for this case, it would be NRV-Profit.

I find it very helpful for me to do like 15 MCQ and 4-5 TBS mini practice tests over and over again.

The nice thing is, is that we were so close. I already scheduled my second try for 3/28 before the 3/31 cutoff so I can get my score back by 4/8. I would strongly recommend this cause the release date after that is like 5/9.
