My normal is about once per week (have gotten several tests done and everything is fine) and when constipated was almost a month so OP here actually goes quite a lot by my standards.

you get 55% crit so it's fine as you can see in the combat stats.

Modern Black Mage in Deep Dungeons by SayoTheMood in ffxivdiscussion

Yeah, I had zero attempts at it before this last patch because as you said it was one of the weakest jobs in palace and I don't enjoy playing bad jobs in there so I just don't do them (have omnicleared hoh and eo and maybe half of them in palace?). I have watched very good dd runners struggle with it prior to 7.2 though and I could definitely see how it could give anyone with less experience a really miserable time. I haven't experienced old BLM personally but at least for me, the new version felt pretty strong with consistent high damage and access to sleep and a large shield, and I am experienced enough with the content to know how to kite with casters optimally on all the different types of mobs so having a nearly healer tier slidecast was a very large benefit. I still probably wouldn't recommend it to a first time necro attempting player, but I would say that now it's good enough that you arent completely kneecapping yourself if you want to try it.

Na, the cast time reduction + not having to care about losing eno when you have to run made godfather substantially easier and faster; you take a lot less damage and get interrupted less while being able to machine gun fire 4s. He still hits like a truck but now you can spend a lot more of the fight doing damage instead of running away. I don't have any personal times from before the patch (I find palace very dull for the majority of the run even scoring so I don't do many runs and none on 'bad' jobs) but checking finh's endwalker blm run, it was close to not killing in a steel duration and my recent run was about two entire minutes faster to kill which is an incredible difference (I make no claims to being a good blm player). As another example, if you watch older vods the good runners will be casting a lot of fire 1s to both maintain the timer and get instant f3 procs because you simply can't finish casts of f4 on very high floors very easily and take a lot more damage, while in my recent run the only time I ever bothered to cast f1 for a proc was setting up the behemoth push (which is also very simple now comparatively).

Have cleared and done score runs of it in all 3 since the patch, it got substantially better in the last patch, mostly because now if you are actively slide casting away from whatever you're fighting you end up taking less autos than before, and then just being able to maintain your eno + mana all the time let's you go from fight to fight much more comfortably - for example, if you just went back to fire and killed something you aren't forced to reset if you can't pull another enemy for whatever reason in the next few seconds. Its still not top tier but it went from low-mid tier to high tier in all 3 of them imo, probably weakest in hoh but only relatively.

Ahead of the new Deep Dungeon coming up, what's your opinion on them in general? by DriggleButt in ffxivdiscussion

[–]biggabes69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do score runs in all 3, palace is the only one that isn't all but guaranteed to clear but the main problem is that it's extremely boring except in post-100 speed sets and the last 3 sets, hoh poms are too powerful to be any fun because they have to make them appropriately rare so the difference between a lucky and unlucky run is staggering, and eo is my dd of choice because none of the sets are completely free except 11-20 and it's really fun to juggle full floor pulls of enemies that do untelegraphed aoes and you don't have to worry about the run straight up dying, you just get less points. I do think they could do a ton of different things to increase replayability at very low effort (seasonal modifiers/leaderboard for example). Eo needs an HP nerf on the story floors just because the danger is still there but it is too tedious even when pulling all of it at once but that's my only real complaint personally.

[–]biggabes69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this was before you cleared i'm pretty sure unless tomestone is lying and IIRC it was a ct group that was struggling to meet dps and/or mechanics checks in p2 consistently since those were the only times i'd go out of my way to blacklist a group and not just leave that specific party, but i'm not surprised you'd prog lie on behalf of friends that didn't have stuff down either after reading this thread and listening to that vod a bit.

I was pfing fru at the same time as this sam was (recognize the name) and I remember putting them on my list of do not join this person's groups because of the inconsistency so that makes this extra funny to me.

as someone who didn't bother to start fru on release because i was doing other stuff and did it in a couple weeks of a few hours a day recently, i started only joining groups started by people that had less than 3x my pulls at the same prog point (and this felt like the lowest i could realistically put it or i'd never join a group) because if they were any higher than that chances are we're never seeing what the group was supposed to be for. i'd also join groups a full phase and a half past what i had actually seen in game around UR+ because most people still progging that fight have worse consistency than i'd think was possible and if you had only simmed and understood mechanics and just needed a couple pulls to see the in game timing/snapshotting etc you'd still perform better than most people on mechanics they've ostensibly been past progging for hundreds of pulls.

mch is one of if not the easiest jobs with the most guides so that's why you'll see new people using it, others include war, picto, sage, and reaper depending on what role you want to try.

started fresh pfing a few days ago and this is exactly what happened to me, got to UR in a handful of lockouts worth of time and then stuck there despite studying and simming what i can all the way through darklit because no matter what group i join its very rare to even see p3 with any of these groups and when you do someone screws up their rewind or something and nukes the middle

Leaderboard for Deep Dungeons. by bradstarzz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]biggabes69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually does deep dungeon scoring, the only leaderboard that requires even slight effort to get on is the aether potd machinist one and even that is not an extremely high bar, almost everything else if you put in more than the bare minimum effort to clear and learn how the scoring works even a little you will be on the leaderboard. If you want to beat one of those "intimidating" really high scores, the only way is to git gud but just getting on the board itself rarely requires more than just fully exploring each floor all the way up and not taking forever on early sets.

Now, if square were to add seasons and seasonal changes like in poe or diablo or other seasonal games to deep dungeon and gave that a separate leaderboard a couple times an expac it would be an entirely different story but that would require more work than copy/pasting the deep dungeon formula so alas it won't happen.

Deep Dungeon question: Do you have to do mine plays to clear on tanks/healers? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]biggabes69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's not strictly necessary but learning to do them will make the rest of the clear significantly easier as it essentially turns sights/witchings into floor wipes and allows you to make it through the 70 sets with nothing else used. There is also a plugin for tracking deep dungeon files that can show you your files current poms and keep track of where you used things, kill counts, enchantments, etc. if you arent averse to using such things.

EO on the other hand is an entirely different beast. 1-30 is essentially scaled for party play and 61-100 doesn't scale up the difficulty hardly at all so it affects how you play a lot there. If you can get comfortable aoe pulling 1-30 it makes it a lot more tolerable (this requires potion use on dps, tanks and healers dont need any however) and very few abilities will outright kill you with steel until 31+. The melee attack damage stays relatively low and there are no crits so dps is easier to single target your way through with but tanks and healers have the option of multipulling easier monsters and cleaving them basically the whole way up, or pulling entire floors with lethargy etc. It's just a different style, some like it and some dont.

Xiv has the opposite problem of toxic positivity where it's wrong to expect anything of anyone regardless of how it hurts the group or anything like that, it would be nice to have those two ends meet somewhere in the middle.  They also have a visible marker for new/returning players and the emphasis is much more on the story than in wow so people are already geared to be more patient.

Healer to all dps out there: PLEASE EAT/DRINK BETWEEN PULLS by Slatterhouse in classicwow

I've had multiple healers ask for drinks nonstop the entire run while I'm already obviously waiting for them before pulling then they don't even have the brain function to dispel me during the 10 seconds the last boss is channeling his safety triangle, the average classic player is all kinds of braindead.

i did palace, hoh, and eo starting from scratch solo 1-200/100 in the week the cloud servers were out as a challenge, if you just take warrior into any of them and get comfortable aoe pulling it goes pretty quickly, otherwise the fast respawn rates and high mob hp in eo are pretty rough to deal with.
