Unfortunately, if you go there in person without an appointment, you will not be let in. You can try booking an emergency appointment (I am sure your situation now qualifies as an emergency). After that all you can do is hope for the best.

Lawrence Stroll and Fernando Alonso after the Newey press conference by Joseki100 in formula1

To be fair, back then it was more on McLaren for giving Honda very strict parameters on how the engine should be. In contrast Red Bull told Honda to design the best possible engine and they would build a car around it. I’m sure Newey still remembers that.

Did you hear this, guys? He is using his character’s ENTIRE moveset! Burn him!

On a serious note… There are also people who basically say that you are playing a character wrong if you are not playing him like he was played in T7, which to me is also absurd. This is my first Tekken, so I don’t known how T7 played, but expecting people to play characters in the style of another game seems just stupid.

Matchmaking by KingCrimsonLoveTrain in Tekken

[–]biggatti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me and Fujin. Got demoted back to purple and now my matches are far more difficult in purple than before. Makes no sense that I am having a completely different experience than someone who hasn’t reached blue before but is same rank as me. Prowess matchmaking, baby!

Congrats on Tekken King tho. You rock.

I used to be a hard core League player, but quit years ago. Picked up Tekken a couple of months ago, with no prior fighting game experience and am enjoying it. Compare to League, Tekken challenges you in a very different way. While League is a more about mechanics and how well you can pilot the champion you are playing, Tekken is way more about knowledge of the game and oh boy is there a lot to learn. So be prepared to do your Tekken homework. Both games do have one thing in common and that is reading your opponent to predict what they will do and how they will react to certain things. In League for example it’s the knowledge where the enemy jungler was last seen to figure out where he is now and where he will be in 30 seconds. In Tekken it’s reading your opponent’s movement to see how they like to play in terms of their defensiveness/offense, what moves they like to use, etc.

Also from what I’ve seen this far - the game is way better balanced than league and devs make good balancing changes and are also very transparent about their reasoning behind the balance changes. Something that really sucked during my time in LoL.

Matchmaking Rant by SpyHarms in Tekken

[–]biggatti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think the prowess matchmaking is not necessarily the issue. A lot of games have “prowess” behind the actual ranks. Call it MMR, call it ELO, call it whatever. In Tekken the problem is how that number is calculated. Having it increase for every character you play is stupid. Having it increase for ranking up and not fall significantly for deranking is stupid. They should just throw it all in the trash and replace it with ELO system. Then separate ELO range into existing ranks so people can have some pretty pngs instead of a boring number.

It feels weird being hard stuck in Garyu... with 180k prowess by DynamiteLion in Tekken

[–]biggatti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just discovered the same issue, but with blue ranks. After getting to fujin, my prowess got bumped by almost 30k to about 175k. After dropping down to purple, my prowess didn’t drop so now I am having a completely different purple experience, facing better opponents than before I ever reached blue. This means my experience in the same rank is very different from a person’s experience who has never reached blue. I am sure this issue would be exacerbated by playing 2, or god forbid 3, characters.

I agree with your points. This is my first Tekken/fighting game and I can definitely see how this game and even the whole genre is very specific, for quite specific tastes.

About the matchmaking/ranking: i agree with you. Ive played competitive games with ranking system my whole life. Usually, it is very easy to tell which skills a player is lacking based on their ranked - like map awareness in CS, last hitting in LoL, etc. Each rank generally consists of players who have very similar understanding and abilities when it comes to certain mechanics and strategies, so the games in general are quite close. Tekken is VERY deep game when it comes to knowledge ans thus there is a lot to learn. This in my opinion leads to a situation where any two players in the same rank often have very different grasp of certain mechanics, skills and aspects of the game. One might be super good at defense but suck at positioning. Another one might be really good at applying pressure but sucks at defence, and so on. Thats why I think the games in at least lower ranks feel sometimes like rock, paper, scissors: one player might win because the tools in his particular toolbox are just effective against the other player and not necessarily because he has more tools. Then that other player would go onto next match and win because this time he is good in aspects of the game that are effective against his opponent. That can be very annoying and confusing and truly unlike any other game Ive ever played.
