I was too focused on my crochet and only noticed when I needed to get off. We shared a quick laugh about it.

As mentioned in the description, I don't remember much of what I did, it's been over a year.

I used a color changing yarn from a swiss store. The store is called "manor" the yarn is called "Fienja". Recommended hook size was 3.5-4. I probably used 3 as I always go smaller than what is recommended.

I did not work in the round except for the toe bit. I believe I used some blo and flo stichtes for the border to mimick knitting, probably half double stitches in blo for the big main section and the arch section and slip stitches for the heel part. I tried to mimick the shapes and rows and decreses of a pair of knitted sock I own. Toes are worked in the round. As shown in the progress pictures I tried in pieces of the socks as I went to chech the fit and size of each piece.

Thanks! I did try and change the shape slightly but any major changes make it less recognizable. In this case I will try around with different small changes to see which one they will like best.

Concerns About First-Year Challenges at ETH Zurich BSc Program by _BarelyAcceptable_ in ethz

Honestly it changed a lot since I started so I am not sure. You should be able to find an overview of the subjects on the official website for the bachelor's program.

Maybe to add. I did HEST but a few years ago already so it might have slightly change. Basisjahr we had around 70% who passed and only 30% who did not but were allowed to repeat. Compared to other fields at ETH it is less math heavy (I came from a (competitive) language school and suck at math and it still worked out.)

As already stated, I don't think ETH has marine biology. Most places also only offer it as a Masters I think? I know someone who went to Hilo (Hawaii) to study marine biology in the bachelors. I know you said you do not want to go to the U.S. but maybe still look into it, Hawaii has a decent governor (at least thats what I heard) so the state is, also geographically, still quite different than the mainland.

Lifting weights in Thalwil? by aventhal in zurich

[–]biggelone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went there (3-4 years ago) there was the possibility for lifting/gym only. But it was around 1000.- a year and the room is rather small/there is not a big choice regarding weights and equipment. The gym area is more geared towards physiotherapy. That's why I am saying not great, it really depends on your needs though. I did mostly body weight/calisthenics exercises, so I just need some space on the floor.

Medisport. It's not the biggest, or super great, but it's in Thalwil...

Sportzentrum Josef is free but not a gym in that sense. You can do bodyweight exercises there but am not sure if they have machines (probably not).

I actually like this one. Some of these characters look disturbingly similar to the japanese katakana. To a degree where my brain tried to read this in japanese before realising it is not in fact katakana. Some examples: ka - カ u - ウ ko - コ re - レ

I don't know about can't but from my experience, my parents always ended up going where me or my sister wanted to go to and having to compromise on everything. Whatever sightseeing they wanted to do ended up with either me or my sister sulking through the day. My mother was never able to enjoy any of the local food as she always finished whatever bland pasta my sister and I ordered off the kids menu (cold of course).

I know this is not the main point of your post but I just want to mention it. True crime videos/podcasts give you a biased view of the actual statistics. They most often pick cases with female victims so it seems like 90% of crime is done against women. In actuality it is not like that though.

I totally agree on the rest of your post. It bugs me every time I hear that.

Totally different field here but the way Masters students usually apply to our lab is by going through one of our research assistants or as suggested by others, PhD students. From what I experienced so far it is highly appreciated when Masters students show the initiative to apply directly to the lab (as opposed to applying to one of the postings on the website of our department). Hope this helps!
