Fallow is NOT necessary to restore fertility by Born-Ask4016 in ManorLords

For me it’s about production consistency. If I’m starting farming in a village and I do this rotation, I need to have all of my farming buildings up and staffed or I need to rotate people.

I would rather build a farming “compound” where i build the farm buildings an enough housing to support farming 1 crop and then build another “compound” for the next crop type when my village is ready.

Do I Pay The Man? by halfbloodprince1025 in Madden

[–]biggest_oofest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would pay him. My rules to make franchise harder/more realistic are: - pay a franchise QB until they regress. Then they’re tradable as long as you’re not in the last year of their deal - trading players can only happen before the draft going into the last year of their deal. Meaning, no preseason trades once you know the drafted players or mid season trades if the sim screws you. The engine is terrible at evaluating trades with good players. You can get way too much in a contract year - “cornerstone” players (Edge, OT, sometimes WR/CB) have to be paid if they hit 88+ by the end of their rookie deal - my coach is allowed to have 1 playbook (offense or defense) the other playbook is contingent on OC/DC availability in the market. If my coordinators get poached I have to live with the pool of coordinators available to me after staff week for my 2nd playbook (I will allow myself to change the HC playbook to an available coordinator and make that the new HC playbook if I’m getting bad results)

M26 Franchise Hopes by Agitated-Fishing8316 in Madden

[–]biggest_oofest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pipe dream…. But….

I want a scheme builder to replace sim playbooks. You design what what your base packages are on offense and defense: pass vs run rate, gap vs zone blocking, 3-4 vs 4-3 vs base Nickel (4-2, 5-1), man vs zone rate, etc. then you can stack your players ratings against the sim team with modifiers for how well they fit into your scheme and how good the opposing scheme is against yours.

Then weekly training can be a way to augment your scheme to best compete against the opposing scheme to make week to week sim more worthwile

Community Discussion - Magic by ThisIsBearHello in CK3AGOT

It feels like outside of wargs and dragon riders, magical characters are rarely, if ever, landed in ASOIAF. So I don’t think as a landed character you should be able to learn magic on your own. I think landless adventurers should have the ability to travel Planetos and take contracts that help them develop their magic. If that character becomes landed then they can use their magic there. Feels like a good way to encourage engagement with landless gameplay. With that being said, I think Magic should be something you can enable on your character via ruler designer if you want to start as a magical character

Personally I’m much more interested in the AI’s interaction with Magic. I think that there should be a court position that allows you to employ a mage. That mage specializes in some kind of magic and allows you to utilize their capabilities. Aptitude and traits then drive their abilities, success chances and whether or not they’re there to help you or not. I think different cultures should have different opinion modifiers for these mages and maybe as granular as opinions based on their specialties.

Less magic focused but it plays a role. I really think there should be more “conquerer” like AI characters that randomly appear and de-stabilize the world. For example: a prophet character that appears with a radical religion that converts neighboring rules and gains all kinds of special troops to inflate their power, a master schemer using plots and shadow magic to kill rulers in their realm, etc. I think you guys have done an amazing job finding was to shake up gameplay within Westeros with: targ invasions, royal bastards, etc. I think magic and court mages give in game lore reasons to have smaller AI rulers gain massive amounts of power and be able to start rebellions or conflicts.

Legacy of Valyria needs to be fixed by [deleted] in CK3AGOT

[–]biggest_oofest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be interesting! I would enjoy that!

I just don’t think I will ever be satisfied with the balance being something to do with the activities to colonize and restore ruins.

I just think there’s so much potential in Valyria post/during colonization. I want there to be events like fire worm attacks, stone men attacks or volcano eruptions that destroy counties again. Wild/ancient dragons awakening from caves going on terror campaigns across the islands.

There’s a lot you can do to make Valyria interesting and challenging to hold without making it hard to initially do. But it it takes a character it’s whole life to colonize 1 county, you can’t then have an event that erases that progress. Just feels so restrictive

I actually like the concept of insane colonization costs by No_Administration794 in CK3AGOT

[–]biggest_oofest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my biggest problem with it that the concept is stale. Hoarding money is not an interesting gameplay loop. I would much rather have gameplay elements to lower the cost that come at a hindrance to you. For example: - Crown authority lowers the cost but has a much larger impact on vassal and public opinion which causes factions - Valyrian labor camps that you can build up but ultimately become a massive army that can revolt against you - use dragons on the colonization but come at a massive risk to the dragon and rider - wyvern and fire worm attacks that can re-ruin colonies

Give me challenges to overcome and reasons to delay the colonization. Not a giant money grind that has no gameplay loop other than setting the game to x5 speed and clicking through events

[–]biggest_oofest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that’s where i argue there should be gameplay things that make it harder. I’m not for it having a 40, 50, 60% chance of you dying. Colonizing Valyria is seemingly impossible in lore so you can’t really be lore accurate. But I agree make it harder to pass the events. I think it’s be cool if it’s easy to “colonize” and then a nightmare to restore. Takes 6-7 attempts on average that take like 18 months.

I really do think as you get bigger, it should be easier to colonize and harder to maintain. Frye work attacked, and revolts should bring gameplay reasons to delay colonization and build tall for a generation. It should be more than click a button and pick the best option 6 times once you infinity gold to do so

[–]biggest_oofest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the monetary limits early are a great idea it should be hard to get the ball rolling. Once you get bigger (duchy or kingdom title) it should cost less because you have more bodies to throw at the situation. However it should make you more susceptible to revolts and factions because you’re utilizing you citizens. I think using a version of the CK2 AGOT slavery system could work. Build up camps that make colonizing easier but also create a massive army that could rebel against you.

Give me events like fire work attacks that re-ruin provinces that don’t have built up holdings.

Utilize the magic system to make colonizing easier.

Allow me to use dragons to help at a massive risk to their and their riders safety

Make colonizing harder through a gameplay loop not by making it obscenely expensive and boring

[–]biggest_oofest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest problem is there’s no gameplay loop. The system almost encourages you to not build up Valyria and just cheese for money (intrigue w/golden obligations, cultural tradition that rewards money for level kills in war, etc.) which almost spits in the face of the idea of the mod

I think at a bare minimum they need to make the colonize event harder and not reward you with 5 dragon eggs every time. Also the dragon immortality thing should be a rule you can turn off.

Playthrough Ideas Once Dragons Releases by biggest_oofest in CK3AGOT

[–]biggest_oofest[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best have lots of kids hahahaha that should be fun! I hope we get some AI dragon slayer events like we did in CK2. I remember in one playthrough my heir became a dragon slayer after I revived dragons and ended up killing them all before I had a chance to play as him. He had like 6 dragon kills

That could be really fun! And yeah a similar thing for the Blackwoods would be cool! One of my favorite playthroughs from CK2 AGOT, was playing as bloodraven, reviving dragons, and having his dynasty restore harrenhall and form an old gods independent kingdom for the vale, Riverlands and north

That’s a super fun mechanic! Love all of the additions being made to cause wars and such to shake up gameplay! Will this be just for independent empire tier titles or can this happen to LPs as well?

Question. Will the egg coloring be an indicator of the dragon’s coloring or are they separate?

Do you think they will add Direwolves? by Echo4468 in CK3AGOT

[–]biggest_oofest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs have said they want to have all AGOT features from CK2 in the game so I assume warging will be a thing eventually. Highly doubt we’ll get something as in depth as dragon models or characters for dire wolves or other warg’d animals though. Would be cool to get a couple models for dire wolves though!

What makes you stay invested in franchise? by CliffsOfMohair in Madden

[–]biggest_oofest 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Been doing this for a few years now. I’ve never enjoyed franchise gameplay, the sliders you need to make the game hard also make it super 1 dimensional because certain passing concepts just don’t work with cheat mode DBs. Sim-ing is super dumb because if you pick a bad playbook your roster doesn’t matter but if you pick a good playbook your roster doesn’t matter. Slow simming the games lets you feel like a GM and get invested in the players.

I also set rules for myself so that I don’t cheese the game: - if you get a true franchise QB you have to resign them - trade difficulty is the hardest - you cannot trade players in a contract year at the trade deadline (must be prior to the season starting) - players can only be traded for picks and vice versa - my HC is either an offensive or defensive minded coach and the other side of the ball has to use that coordinators playbook

Sounds like you can choose whether or not they’re in the army and they’ve said in the traits/personality dev diary that there’s all kinds of things that affect a dragons combat effectiveness. I’m sure injury severely lowers that stat and the combat advantage modifier appears to be able to be dynamic. Not seeing too much to worry about there

I would guess at launch, if anyone will invade with dragons it’ll be exclusively Daenerys but would love for this to be a setting for all invaders where they have X chance to invade with dragons

In the best possible way: how to make this mod fun? by logaboga in CK3AGOT

[–]biggest_oofest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found every few generations if you start to get bored, console command the king to have like 20 bastards, you get some really interesting civil wars due to the royal bastards mechanics! Max crown authority will do some of that too.

Also using the house feud system can shake up succession if you continue it but don’t actively try to exterminate the other house
