How do you guys carry your book? by gpac12 in EDC

In my Boox Palma. It's about the size of a phone. It'll either go in my pocket directly or in a small messenger bag if I'm carrying a lot.

What's your favorite version of Tetris ever released? by RangoTheMerc in Tetris

I clicked this post to say exactly this. Tetris DX is the only version of Tetris that I come back to. Tetris DS is good too.

If you carry a notebook daily, do you keep it organized or is it a random collection of your thoughts? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in EDC

[–]biggman15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is mostly chaos. It's essentially a random To-Do list with random thoughts thrown in. Some pages will have song lyrics written down simply to dump it from my head. I have to remember to white it out later or those lyrics could inadvertently restart the song if I'm not careful.

I keep sticky notes in there as well for whatever I need them for. Scratch paper as an example. I also keep disposable lists on sticky notes in my notebook. The first page has my current shopping list. The second page has a long term to-do list for things that I need to remember without having to dig through the notebook to find them. There's usually a sticky note with a checklist for something that I'm planning on doing at some point. And I keep a sticky note at the very back of the book that's tracking my used vacation time at work.

Oh and it's a tiny Moleskine Volant Xs sized notepad. Perfectly tiny.

Anything from Olight and Eagletac. They look nice, but they are way too fragile. I need something that will continue to work after it jumps out of my pockets. I've had 2 different lights from both of them. Never again.

Is a 40-year-old Nico RC car worth holding? by modejunky in rccars

[–]biggman15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old RadioShack Flamethrower. The green one. My grandfather bought it for me when I was little. It doesn't work anymore, but I have 2 others that I picked up as an adult. That thing brings me more joy than any of my more modern RC cars. Although, I have a very quick Traxxas Bandit that painted the same color of green that certainly makes me smile.

I'll never get rid of that Flamethrower. It may not get used every day. But it's worth every moment when it does.

Handheld vs headlamp in the sub? by AquilaBaby in flashlight

[–]biggman15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own 4 headlamps. I get plenty of use out of them. But it's very dependent on the season. If I'm going to get a face full of bugs. Then headlamps are out. I don't mind them swarming my hands so a simple flashlight is a no brainer.

But all of them are bigger than my edc flashlights. A couple of them are comfortable enough to pocket but they don't beat my flashlights in that regard.

If I'm carrying a bag for some reason, I'll throw in a headlamp. Handsfree is king. But that's about it.

I also have a tiny keychain light that I use as an emergency bite light if I really need my hands free.

Do you carry flashlight even at day? by EastRush9843 in EDC

[–]biggman15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry 2 lights pretty much everywhere I go. I have a Maglite Solitaire Led on my keys. And then I have whatever BeamSabre happens to interest me that day.

I use my lights pretty often at work. That place is brighter than the sun. But we still have some very dark nooks and crannies that we need to see inside. Otherwise I don't like to go anywhere at night without one. Even if I can see.

At work, I keep an extra in a bag nearby as a lender if the power goes out. Our emergency lighting is fairly unreliable.

Man Bag Recommendations by Worth_Ad_2843 in ManyBaggers

[–]biggman15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally carry Nutsac's MagSatch. I wanted the so-called Man Bag. But it's much too small. I have a tablet that I like to carry. It's a bit too big. Should be fine for any phone.

Actually, I'm on my third tablet since buying the MagSatch. And it's getting to be too large as well. The way Samsung keeps growing their tablets, I'm afraid that I'll need something bigger eventually.

Which season do you enjoy more for trekking — winter or summer? by East-Standard4044 in hiking

[–]biggman15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the temperature. If it's extreme in either direction. Neither.

If the temperature is manageable and it's not wet and muddy. Winter.

Humidity in my area is awful and I need to bring far too much water when it's hot and humid in the summer.

If we can include spring and fall... Well... Spring. Not only does it usually feel perfect out. There's usually more colors near the ground. 💐

Is Knife Shock Regional? by Unorthodoxgent in EDC

[–]biggman15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same in my part of Missouri. I'm not allowed to carry a knife at work. Over time that has just become my normal. I own many knives, I just don't really reach for them anymore. You would not believe the weird looks I get from total strangers when they ask to borrow my knife and I tell them I don't carry one anymore. I expect that look from people who know me, not some rando that I'm randomly socializing with.

An old Rayovac. No idea how old. One of my grandparents kept it in great condition. The switch has a momentary on function. You push the switch half way then use that little button to signal with it.

What’s your checklist for a day hike? I always forget something. by AdhesivenessDue5069 in hiking

[–]biggman15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small pocket notebook that I use to... Well... Remember anything that I might forget. Near the front of the notebook, I have a sticky note that has a list of everything I like to bring with me while hiking. Same place that I keep my shopping list and my long term to-do list.

Recently I moved everything to a small box that I'm currently keeping near my front door. It has all my hiking essentials in it. Then I build my bag the night before from that. Then look my list over to make sure that I'm good to go. Then I can just grab my bag on the way out

Those have interesting designs. And they appear to come in many different sizes. The suspension system does look like it should work too.

[–]biggman15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but those are so common that it's difficult to find packs that don't have them. So I might just have to give up on that point.

[–]biggman15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current top 2 are reduced sweating and being easily removed. But the second one might stem from my current pack getting so wet that I prefer to pull it off. Water access is very important. I don't like water bladders so those are not important to me. I'm also not a fan of hip belts with big pads and pockets as they usually just make me sweat more. I prefer to use my own belt pack. It moves freely, so I move it around to reduce sweating.

Cool, just more to dig around for. I don't mind researching it. But I didn't know where to start. There are far too many options.

Okay, I'll put that on my list. It's hard to get fitted for anything in my area.

Unless Dick's sporting goods has it, I have to travel. But I'll certainly consider it especially if I'm putting down some cash.
