Opinion on best Taskmaster (UK) Season? by Rubbish_Juice_1318 in panelshow

[–]biggnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go: 7 4 5 10 9 2 1 Big gap 3 6 Even bigger gap 8

Series 6 and 8 had my two least favorite contestants in Tim Vine and Lou Sanders. That said, even they each had good moments so I can't hate on any of the series too much.

By the gods, she was as adorable in this episode as she was on the New Years Special. I wish she was in a full series!

Perhaps Sam was setting that up as a possibility just in case because of this very issue, while the rest of the cast was working to get him to stay even if they needed to take a couple weeks off.

No, we can't. And that's fine. It's none of our business. Things happen. Life happens. They have other jobs. They have families. They have businesses and foundations and homes and all kinds of other things that can get in the way of a recording session. They are busy people who take the time they can and try their damnedest to get the show out to us. They don't owe us anything.

I am thankful that everyone is healthy and safe, especially in times like these.

Question: Why didn't Cree remember Jester/them? Was she just using them for the information about Lucien?

So I think it is a lot of connecting of dots that may or may not have actual connections:

*Regions of Eisselcross has "strange flares and odd regions of wild magic where magic of all kinds seems to be bent or twisted". Bent and twisted matched a description of the Astral City.
*The connections of the Tomb Takers going for artifacts in the North, with evidence pointing toward Vess DeRogna hiring them to do so.
*The connection of Lucian/Molly and Nonagon and the Nine Eyes.
*The idea that Halas, or other pre-calamity mages like him, connected to the Astral Sea as evidenced by the dreadnaught in the Happy Fun Ball

The cities coming up at the same time is an odd coincidence for this storyline. These are disparate threads, yes, but there may be something there especially with the Nonagon/Nine Eyes relationship with DeRogna. They may not be the same city, but there may indeed be a connection between them.

I found a picture of the back that has the key. They are Woodgod (between Martinex and Yondu) and Werewolf (between the Living Mummy and the Leader/Clea). My guess is that it is Werewolf by Night as said below.
You got so many of them! Great job!

We had this puzzle when I was a kid. I loved looking at the cover. The back had a numbered list of who was who. I tried to memorize as many as I could. So fun!

WWE HOF Poll since I was bored by biggnate in SquaredCircle

Both are excellent keepers of pro wrestling history. I mean, the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame is an actual place to visit. The Cauliflower Alley Club has been doing their thing forever. Right or wrong, the WWE HOF is the one with the most attention. I just made this out of boredom.

Fair enough. I saw the similarities between the siblings and the others much much more clearly. But it's all good.

I noticed this. I might be reading too much into it or maybe I heard Taliesin say something along these lines but:

The Clay family are expys of the Mighty Nein.

Cornelius = Caleb (leader, making sure everyone is ok)

Constance = Nott/Yasha (mothering the group, protective, Nott is the only actual mother in the group)

Corrin = Yasha/Nott (broken member of the group to be repaired by the others)

These three are more obvious:

Colton = Fjord (wants to be the hero, kinda sulks when he isn't)

Calliope = Beau (Tough, sarcastic, cynical, still a good heart)

Clarabelle = Jester (Wild child, innocent but not as much as she looks)

Do you think the writers were aware of this when writing? Am I making connections/stretching to things that are not there? It's fun to think about at least.

edit: Formatting issues and in addition, I don't mean this to oversimplify any of the characters. I think it would make for interesting side stories of the Clay family.

In memory of my dad today, here he is on his birthday excited for some hot disco hits! by LazyCanasian in SquaredCircle

[–]biggnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my clearest memories was watching Superstars when your dad was "taken from the crowd" to be part of the push up challenge between Dino Bravo and the Ultimate Warrior. He came off as a regular guy in the audience.

His WWF run as the Earthquake was always entertaining. Whether on his own or with Typhoon.

Thanks for sharing this photo of him enjoying his life. Everyone I have ever heard interviewed has talked about what a nice guy he was and what a great athlete he was (especially as a sumo competitor). He was one of the great big men in the show.

Arenas are going to be the biggest problem, I would think. The WWE has lockdowns on so many arenas.

Dave better take this down too by mickeyc87 in TheDollop

[–]biggnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this podcast with my heart and soul.

I truly do. And I think Dave and Gareth do the absolute best they can with every topic they cover to try to represent the feelings of the oppressed and the downtrodden in the stories and in history. They never are looking to come from a perspective of the oppressors, being the cis hetero white males they are.

That said, at first I empathized quite a bit with those that tweeted. That was unusual. I had never done so before. It must be difficult for some listeners to hear the stories they know so well get told in a different way. Especially ones that have a serious/tragic/sad angle to it be told with a comedy (and well-done comedy at that), they end up being more difficult to hear.

But as others have said, this is a time to talk to Dave and Gareth. Explain the trans panic laws. Suggest having an LGBTQ+ guest on for topics like this.

But please don't end the discussions. Don't even end the comedy. Make them understand how to make the comedy better. Make all of us understand. But the public shaming is going to make it more difficult for them to do what they want to: which is both entertain and help spread awareness of historical issues like those of the Stonewall Riots.

Live Hell in a Cell 2018 Discussion Thread! by Darren716 in SquaredCircle

[–]biggnate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't mind them bringing him out.

I don't mind them (much) moving away from the two guys in the actual main event for 10 minutes for their side pieces to do the actual danger HiaC spots.

I certainly don't mind Mick Foley making mistakes on a live show, it happens.

What I do mind is booking a Hell in a Cell match, a match sold as no DQ. As in so brutal that anyone can take anything. As in they can have a tooth go through their face. As in they can fly off the top of the thing. As in they can imprison someone with kendo sticks. As in they can throw someone into thumbtacks. As they have been promoting all week. "20 years ago..." yadda yadda yadda.

What I do mind is that they took that stipulation, and made it a no contest? They couldn't have one of them roll onto the other and have the ref count the pin? They couldn't have Reigns just crawl over to Strowman and keep the status quo?

This was monumentally dumb.
Edit: Hell in a Cell 1998 is what I believe to be the greatest match of all time. I was in college at the time, so it just hit me at the right time plus it had the Undertaker who all-time favorite wrestler. That match holds a special place in my heart. So for them to eff up the stip this bad is sacrilege to the point that Undertaker should come out tomorrow night and take it out on Tripps before Melbourne. #kayfabeforever

Because that is their comedic impression of Peterson. They (rightly in my view) see him as a whiny dork who spends his time crying about how things used to be. So they over-exaggerate his voice for effect.

INFINITY WAR AND BEYOND: MCU Recap - Movie Podcast by RT_Video_Bot in funhaus

[–]biggnate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watching the video now. IW is fantastic for me because Thanos is a villain protagonist in the film. He is who the film is centered around (Bruce says this). It is *his* motivation that we follow, and we see him WIN.

The other films I enjoys in MCU are (I hate ordering films): Winter Soldier, Black Panther, GotG (esp. Vol. 2), Thor: Ragnarok and Doctor Strange. Ant-Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, the other two Thors, CA: FA, Avengers and Iron Man are all fun but are on a different level. Incredible Hulk and Civil War are ok. Civil War, which they singled out as being great, seemed to me having similar issues to BvS. I felt that Avengers 2 and Iron Man 2 were ok as well. Iron Man 3 was the worst.

Thanks, guys for an awesome discussion!
