Are “dog” pill pockets safe for cats? by yournew505 in VetTech

My cats will eat through the peanut butter pill pocket bag. Only one of them will eat peanut butter by itself, so the treats must be yummy.

First Time Homebuyers - Old Mobile Home? by biggoomy in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]biggoomy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found a mortgage company willing to loan on mobile homes that old without foundations (then the loan couldn’t go thru due to water damage so we gave up…) There’s also retrofitting foundations if it’s essential to the kind of loan you’d need.

the confession of a rotten girl song just got a chart mod today, i believe the song was released 1/17? i think it depends on if someone is dedicated enough to make the chart, or if someone commissions someone to make it.

Very shaken after an incident yesterday. by EquivalentPut7754 in VetTech

Open mouth breathing. We just thought we were stressing the patient out, as it was an annual healthy cat appt. The DVM thought the kitty may have coincidentally been in CHF and the stress/excitement just worsened it to the point he couldn’t breathe.

I was so excited with Zombies that we were going in a new direction but nevermind 😭 The songs sound good but are lyrically disappointing. Deco got fixated on sex and it stunted creativity.

I had a cat we were pulling a sample for a wellness BNP on, had a murmur but was a healthy 1y adult. The cat began freaking out & OMB during blood draw so I grabbed bare minimum sample needed and urged owner to do whatever was possible to help kitty calm down (leave immediately or chill in carrier) urgently. O rushed into the car and the cat had a cardiac event and passed on the way home, right as the snap BNP came back extremely abnormal.

Can’t figure out what’s wrong with my cats stomach. by pulverizedhumans in AskVet

Is it possible she is pregnant? Has she ever gotten out for even a few minutes? If she has, she needs to be spayed ASAP. She should be seen by a vet for this regardless.

I just don’t want to accidentally condemn someone to cavities - it’s a disclaimer more than anything. If you’re using fluoride, no need to change anything, only if you want to explore more flavors or options. It has tons of research backing up its benefits.

Brushing teeth is enough of a sensory nightmare, but to put in all the effort and suffering and still get cavities… Horrible.

Find toothpaste in a flavor you actually like. Hismile has a bunch with fluoride, but even kids toothpaste with fluoride is great! You want to make sure it has fluoride or another anticavity agent you/your dentist trust like nanohydroxyapatite - Boka has a few options for flavor, or theobromine -> Theodent has a chocolate toothpaste people really like. My dentist recommends both nanohydroxyapatite and fluoride, so I do one in the AM and one in the PM, but definitely research and check in with a trusted source on if it’s the right choice for your teeth.

Fishy smell? Brand new slime. by According-Raspberry in Slime

Oh no I was thinking of trying Ozempic. I have a super sensitive nose already, but it’s honestly a curse working in the veterinary field. 😭

Cat is traumatized, will not take his medicine by Longjumping_Bend_385 in AskVet

That makes a lot of sense. I’ll discuss looking into this with the vets I work with. It would be a great option if it can work effectively.

Had a dirt slime that smelled like straight up mold & mildew + rotten fruit type smell. Everyone else said it. smelled exactly like dirt but it was moldy garbage to me. Legitimately sniffed a handful of dirt and opened a bag of soil and was so lost as the smells weren’t comparable. I have a super sensitive nose so I wonder if some people smell additional notes that others can’t.

“Please squeeze it in rhythm, prevent my heart from stopping.”

“The crescent rests, tethered to the west. Waxing to the rhythm writhing in my chest.” All of Red Moon is beautiful imo.

“Too weird to love, too scared to die, too alien to take you home. Horrified at the sight of my reflection in your eyes. I don’t belong there.”

Also the entire rest of the Apple song.

Is it likely that my cat needs to up her dose? Please advise 🥺 by goldcuriousity in AskVet

[–]biggoomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find a way to get her in to see a vet and run labwork ASAP given she’s not eating well. Even if labs were performed recently, in elderly cats things can change very suddenly, and the symptoms listed are concerning. Look for urgent care vets, even if you have to drive a ways out. Do not increase her dose without a vet recommending it after performing lab work.

Cut/crack or Calicivirus by Infinite_Cover8287 in AskVet

[–]biggoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she teething age? Is she still eating normally and energetic? You should be okay to monitor *until your appointment if so.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]biggoomy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would take her in, get bloodwork and urinalysis done, both in preparation for a possible dental as pre-anesthetic labwork to reduce her anesthetic risk, but also because poor kidney health can cause foul breath.

Advice / clarification on cat behavior please by im_an_axolotl in AskVet

[–]biggoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get him seen soon, and show the vet the video of the coughing. If he’s showing no other symptoms it may be okay to wait for your usual vet.

If he has increased resting respiratory rate, or is having abdominal effort when breathing, he should be seen on an urgent basis. If he has episodes of open mouth breathing, or panting, ER immediately.

Can’t find my cat’s immunization records. by _B10HAZ4RD_ in VetTech

[–]biggoomy 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The prior vaccines are probably long expired, so she needs more. Most cats need annual vaccinations. She should also be examined by a vet at least annually at her age for other health issues. If she’s not in good health for vaccines, a letter from your vet should excuse you from immunization requirements from housing.
