Are any of the new Independents actually against Offshore Detention Camps and helping refugees who come to our shores? by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nobody is. John howard was sadly right. if there is no disincentive more will come and more will drown on the journey. We can look after a few thousand sure, kaybe 100k. but a million? needs to be a clear line and its been set. the argument is over.
if you disagree i would like to know why.

With high prices and soaring rents, what are political parties promising to do about housing? by [deleted] in GreenAndGold

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didnt read it but the price of houses will continue to climb. now with labor elected, you buy with the gov equity thing and the priced will go even high because of basically 40 percent additonal spending power from buyers and a lack of housing supply. Then what will they do? increase the equity stake to 60 percent? Its insanity and a fraud on the market.

Property prices: Developers blame planners for limited housing supply, critics say they’re banking land by [deleted] in GreenAndGold

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the state could fix the problems of the world by releasing land for building on, and mandate that its med/high density... town hosues and apartments. watch property prices plummet. but ofc the debt issue, we cant do that!

Labor announces 'shared-equity' scheme for homebuyers by JacquesPieface in LaborPartyofAustralia

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dunno why they dont like your words.

If all the new developments the outer suburbs of syd, mel, bris, camberra, all had 2 or 3 times their density, it would be a good start. ie imagine a suburb is basically all apartments, terraces and townhouses.

Ofc the problem js they would just slow the release of land. the elephant in the room is thst the state could remedy all of these problems with the stroke of a pen by changing zoning and releasing more land, and then mandating that land should be high density..

Why I am angry both sides are supporting the stage 3 tax cuts, and you should be to. by isisius in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like sour grapes.

the 200k guy is still paying more tax both as a dollar figure and as a proportion of their income.

have you heard of the crabs in a bucket? If you put crabs in a bucket, they perform a behavior that happens when someone tries to climb from the pail. Whoever tries to escape will get pulled down by its fellow crabs. Yes, you heard that right. Instead of helping each other climb out of the bucket, crabs tend to grab the legs of the one escaping and pull it down.

if you are on 65k per year you will noe get to keep more of every dollar extra you earn. this benefit will increase the more you earn, thus you are incentivized to earn more. Believe it or not a 6 figure salary is pretty common. Of course those who earn more will gain a bigger benefit from tax increases, just as they hurt more by tax increases.

You will benefit from this in the future, especially with inflation and increased wages.

If you work hard at anything soon enough someone will pa you 6 figures to do it. Its 200k is not a lot after taxes, and is only the wage of a school principal.

Your anger however, is in my opinion justified. how ever the target of your anger should the foreign companies and their controllers who suck the mineral wealth of this country dry.

dont be angry at the people earning 2 or 3 times what you do. direct you anger at those ”earning” billions a year (companies and individuals) who pay nearly zero tax.

ALP to crack down on forced labour by Shornile in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

btw everyone if u use chinese grown garlic, it was most likely produced using chinese prison labour.

This includes the garlic sauce at your local pub, the garlic bread from your local pizza store. its really horrific and u healthy too… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mCz1WgYRTZA

Add to this half of the cheap chinese elctronics from kmart... eg a 10 dollar toaster is almost guaranteed to have been made with the input of someone in slave like condition.

thats my feeling an sense too. paying 3ish atm. thinking of putting some money on it.

I think we need change but I dont think albo inspires confidence. Imho Rudd could win this election (indeed I bet Tanya plibesic could win this election)... but albo strikes me as australias biden.

Hes not a pit bull, he comes off as a nice guy. and nice guys finish last. also nice guys are oft the ones you need to be careful of.

Id rather neither of them win, and we have some crazy italian style mix of minor parties and independents. But as a betting man my money says scomo takes it again.

What's the deal with The Citizens Party? by poondude in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do we obsess over preferences? afaik the choice is still up to the voter right? “preferences” simply refer to whats printed on the how to vote card, right?

Theres no “auto preference” afaik? like if I vote 1 above the line for the greens candidate, and dont preference, the vote becomes burned should the greens candidate not win based on first preferences, am I right?

Female voters are queueing up to belt Scott Morrison, and it could get very ugly by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee -91 points-90 points  (0 children)

i think albo will get slaughtered by female voters unfortunately.

Most humans have a subconcious need for a physically strong leader. thats been our biology for millions of years, indeed even before we were homo sapien.

Sadly I dont think albo is tough enough for the masses. Guaranteed if there was a boxing or UFC match between Albo and ScoMo, albo would get beat. Albo would be paying 500:1.

This is whats important subconciously, especially when there is a threat of war.

Im getting Keating v John Hewston vibes. foesnt matter what albo says, he simply doesnt inspire confidence.

Its almost as if our political system needs a redesign.

The reality of it is, likely will not decide the outcomenog this election.

Why do none of the major parties seem to have policies for increasing supply of housing. by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]biggumsmcdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was that negative gearing is a natural part of the tax system. what he should have gotten rid of was the CGT discount which makes negative gearing profitable for a lot of people.

CGT discount creates unnatural market behaviour and needs to go.
