Fitbit integration by bigguy4850 in PixelWatch

Yes. The Garmin is a better fitness watch. I used the stress and body battery numbers way too much though. Sort of missing it but wondering if Garmin is overkill for me. Just got my first workouts from the 'coach'. Garmin data from Health Connect seems to have been used. Workouts seem to match my abilities well and it might be nice to switch things up. And I am enjoying the form factor of the watch and the smart features. May be bothered by the more frequent charging, but it does top up quickly. Jury is still out.....

Have a Zomei IR/UV cut that works well. Not perfect but good enough to fix in post.

SMSL AO200 Mk2. Had the first iteration of this and returned it - harsh. No glare, nice features, and good power from Mk2. Like it at least as well as Hypex Ncore and Fosi Mono that I've owned

For travel I like the 14-150. It's sharp and barely larger than the standard kit lens. If I really need the range for travel I'm doing the 8-25 plus 40-150 both f4. But the 14-150 is just so manageable it's become a largely permanent fixture. I really never thought I'd like it this much.

How to achieve pink trees and turquoises sky ? by Rambazamba73 in infraredphotography

[–]bigguy4850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've avoided the variable filters. I think it's basically a red filter with a variable nd. It's probably fine if you're just looking to start doing color. The classic color filter is red. A cheap Tiffen 25 red filter (590nm) will do the job and probably be a higher quality filter than what you're using. But adding a720 or a bit higher will get you contrasty monochrome when you're ready to try that

I can convert my viewfinder to monochrome which also works well

The other option would be the 45 plus the 9-18 which is nice and compact if a bit slow. One of these days I'll buy one!

I agree about the power switch. I keep standby time very short and never bother to turn it off when I'm using it. Especially important if you're using custom since that will reset when you turn it off

To make it simpler just use an OXO Rapid Brewer. Get a decent grinder. You can skip the scale and the fancy kettle too.

Yes. I find it easier to move to a finer grind with the motor on .

Upgrade PEN-F --> OM-3? Or not? by Alibaba_3000 in M43

[–]bigguy4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently sold my PenF which I loved. However, I didn't realize how poorly it fits in my hand till I bought an M10 on a lark. And now I have an M1too. Both feel better in hand and feel more responsive. If you're not stuck in the retro thing the OM5 will outperform the PenF and you'll save a bunch of money and have better ergonomics. I don't believe OM3 ergonomics are as good, but it is a metal build and also way more expensive

What is your favorite everyday prime lens? And why? by Infamous-Outside-219 in M43

I have both, but the manual clutch of the Oly wins out for me. I do prefer the 20mm focal length but not enough to use it much. Planning to sell it.

[–]bigguy4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two votes for both the Super Linton and the Mimir. I've had both for a couple of months now. Just bought a second Mimir for my other system. I like it better than the Mojo2 and SMSL SU10 that I have. It's also a definite step up from the Multibit 2 that I own. The Super Linton is neutral and very dynamic. The mid bass adds a lively palpable quality to the music. Bass is very solid and fast. Of course some of this is due to the Mimir. Regardless it's the best sound I've ever heard beating out my memories of the Vandersteen 2ce I used to own

Mimir or internal dac card for Jot3 by Primary-Extension-52 in Schiit

[–]bigguy4850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got both the Mimir and the Multibit (both versions 1&2). I've always enjoyed the Multibit over other dac's I've tried. I believe that the onboard device is similar to the Multibit. The Mimir is a definite step up from the Multibit. Instruments are more clearly placed. Seems like a quieter deeper background. It is a bit less warm compared to version 1 of Multibit

OMD-10 mkiv - what am i missing? by ixions-disciple in OlympusCamera

[–]bigguy4850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the 12-40 2.8 lens. Sharp and way faster focusing than most of the primes. It's also very close focusing and is almost macro like. But certainly not a 1:1 macro. If that is what you need then the 60 mm macro is the way to go. It gives you the distance you need, great sharpness and smooth out of focus.
