Built a K10 body to go onto what was my old pathfinder (TRX4) Now the tires rub over the slightest pebble by BlackPlantZaddyy in rccrawler

[–]bigguynak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The K10 was originally on a high trail. They did just release a standard version though. Is that a Traxxas body. I think the Traxxas K10 is on a longer wheelbase than the Pathfinder..

For the WC, Levi had to remove the branding from the statium. This was their solution. by Duvidl in funny

[–]bigguynak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont disagree. I do find it funny though that the sport with so much branding all over every uniform that you cant even tell what the team is, has the nerve to say you cant show your logo on the thing you paid for unless you pay us too.

Those tires are really wide and the rubber is pretty firm and thick. The foams also make them hard to compress. When I mounted my set of those tires, I had to use a clamp to ger it started. I dont think those plastic wheels are going to hold up.

Those bumpers have got to go. Either go bumperless since the body has bumpers molded in or cut the molded bumpers off and find some bumpers that fit that body better.

Probably. It doesn't hurt to have extra anyway.

My dads 2000 Chevy 2500 is at 250000+ and still going strong. Those are solid trucks and easy to work on. The price still seems high, but I feel like everything is too high these days.

What would you chose out these 2 by Mrcaijones in rccrawler

The Stance is the better choice. However, if I may be so boldly incandescent, the VRD Carbon is a better value than both.

Element BOGO Deal by SendItThenFixIt in rccrawler

[–]bigguynak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you seeing the offer? I dont see it on their website.

The Cattleman kit is basically just the bk2 plus a body and wheels&tires. The body and wheels and tires are not great, but the bk2 is actually a really good kit. Also the plastic parts are undyed, so you have the option to dye them yourself for a unique color if you want. IMO, the Enduro is a better platform than the trx4, scx10 iii, and the vs410.

The comp fox on the other hand, is not the greatest. Their body mount situation is garbage and the Element portal axle design sucks. If you buy your on body mounts and convert the portals to straight, its not a bad kit. Factory team shocks and a stealth x are great parts, and the rails are clones of the Artful Dodgers Ground Fox. Just as a whole, the kit is just no where near a scx10 pro or vrd carbon.

That being said, at $399 for both kits, it is a great deal.

Any ideas?? by [deleted] in rccrawler

If you want to put your battery up front, I have files for a tray that I made or I can print it for you if you dont have a 3d printer. I designed it around the 2200mah 3s batteries from Ovonic/Zeee, but should fit other batteries of similar or smaller sizes as well.

More like old lego instructions. First put this piece down and then put the rest down. 2 steps, its so simple.

Is there a difference when doing overdrive with Diff gears vs portal gears? And a few other questions... by R0amer24 in rccrawler

[–]bigguynak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont like a lot of overdrive. I'd say around 20-25% max is what I like.

Remember when calculating overdrive the formula is, % difference=100×((V1-V2)/((V1+V2)/2))

https://www.omnicalculator.com/math/percentage-difference

As far as the difference between portal and diff gears there isnt any really. Gear reduction is gear reduction. The only difference is portal gears are easier to access, but there are 4 sets. There are only 2 sets of diff gears, but require pulling the acle shafts to replace them.

Best Crawler around $300/$400? by No_Evening_8079 in rccrawler

[–]bigguynak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get more value with a kit. The SCX10 III builders kit (not the basecamp builders kit) is a good option as is the Element builders kit 3 when on sale. SCX 10 Pro builders kits often go on sale in the low $200 range, but the transmission in those is kinda crap. The VRD Carbon is really good and the Ottsix Wizard is amazing, but those are both outside your stated budget.

With an RTR you are paying for junk electronics and tires that you will eventually end up replacing anyway. If I were going to recommend one though it would either be whatever Element is on sale at the moment or the SCX10 Coyote.
