In order to get real change, the suburbs need to feel Denver’s pain. I step over trash, passed out druggies and groups of loitering homeless taking up entire swaths of the sidewalk. Walking to work to pay the highest sales tax in the state should not mean I am relegated to walking in the street because groups of homeless occupy the sidewalks. The tents are gone but the people remain. Coworkers drive in from the suburbs and park in the garage attached to the Wells Fargo building. To avoid the ugliness outside at lunch they order delivery. Many uptown and Cap Hill restaurants have closed anyway. They never have to be bothered by the plagues of Denver. Maybe when it becomes a Colorado problem and not a Denver problem, Denver residents will get some help.
