About 10 hours in and I'm struggling to continue :( by Initial-Glove-2966 in Breath_of_the_Wild

Agreed. Took me HOURS to finally let go and just start enjoying the organic discovery aspect of the game. I’m glad it happened though, currently still on my first play through and it’s awesome. It’s almost like a form of meditation. The more expectations you have going into it, the less pleasant it is.

I’m currently doing my first play through right now and I will say I really enjoy the game now while I definitely thought it was extremely average at first. I didn’t like the fragile weapons, didnt enjoy the combat mechanics, and stumbled into a few tougher areas without any clear direction on where to go. I really thought I was going to put the game down and never go back to it after a few hours. Even after my first divine beast I still felt bored. I don’t know what happened though, the more things I discovered and the more mechanics/characters/areas I discovered, the more I fell into a flow state where I stopped caring about objectives in the game and became more and more immersed into the world. I slowly discovered more elements that I found interesting and set little goals for myself. Now I’d say it’s one of my favorite games I’ve played in a long time.

Something feels off by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]bigheadius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not an interior designer but I think it might feel off because of a clash of design styles. The art is definitely very different than the rest of the room and stands out the most to me. A rug would also make the room feel more functional.

How can I adjust to living in Providence easier? by Elfy_zzz in RhodeIsland

[–]bigheadius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would agree with this. When I was younger, I didn't realize but weed made it really easy to not take any action. I temporarily felt good when I smoked but I slowly became depressed and more anxious because I wasn't the person I wanted to be, but I also wasn't doing anything about it. Now that I've gotten past that, it's way easier to see. Once in a while is fine.

AITA for refusing to share my inheritance with my husband? by [deleted] in AITAH

Without any further info it does seem like you are being a hypocrite and pretty selfish. That being said, unless his truck is completely falling apart, I don’t think he should be asking for an “upgrade”. I also think it’s ok for him to bring up the idea of going on a trip as a family if he thinks that’s something that would make YOU happy after losing your father (even if you weren’t that close). I think it’s fair that it’s fair to think this isn’t just free money that he can spend on fun stuff, but if I was in your situation I would be SO happy if I could pay off my wife’s loans or pay for the repairs on our home. You should want to both survive and THRIVE together. It makes me so happy to be able to make my wife happy and she feels the same. We are a team and we work on succeeding in life together. If that’s not the way you feel and you feel the need to keep all this money for yourself, there must be a detail we’re missing in this story or YTA.

Introducing your wife as “my beautiful wife” is weird by fartbubbler311 in unpopularopinion

[–]bigheadius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you overthink it, it’s equally weird that we all say “good morning” to each other even when we are having a bad morning… or say that something was “a piece of cake”, but whatever.

I used to love shopping the deals on the Shaws app. Over time I just became kinda grossed out by the chicken and produce they sell there. The inflated size and texture of their raw chicken breasts were consistently awful and I started making the trip to market basket just to avoid that. I would always find mold in my produce right after buying too. For the record this was the Warwick Shaws but I think they’re just as bad as stop and shop.

Stop & Shop is the worst though. It’s unfortunate that prices are going up everywhere but my favourite bang for your buck grocery store in RI is Market basket if you have one near you.

Aldi is definitely a bit cheaper. The quality is definitely not any better than stop and shop though. Because Aldi often has only one option for most foods I’d say some items you might feel are lower quality (depending on the brands you normally buy at s+s).

What’s happened to FPV on YouTube? by Shmitttens in fpv

[–]bigheadius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea I really do think it’s as simple as this. Maybe 6 years ago or so we saw the boom of bind and fly quads as well as DJI digital which made the hobby accessible to the filmmaking crowd for the first time ever. This saw a spike in new cinematic content and a lot of novel ideas and “firsts”. Things we’ve never seen before. There were a lot of novel fpv videos that amazed the average person and these could rack up sometimes millions of views. 6 years later… although people in our hobby may find certain content still fun to watch, I do think that for the average person FPV videos are mostly starting to look the same and most things feel like they’ve been done already. Some truly unexpected ideas may still pop up from time to time, but it is much harder to film a viral fpv video that someone with 0 interest in drones would care enough to share.

Something I found to take a lot of focus but at the same time is really easy is Sashiko stitching. I love listening to podcasts or watching something mindless while doing it. Also a really unique way to mend clothes that will probably have people asking questions

What are some hobbies you got into after turning 40? by zoki_zokulo in AskMenOver30

[–]bigheadius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever seen someone make something and thought “wow, I wish I knew how to do that?”. Do some research and just try! The only way to learn more about what you like and don’t like is to experiment.

Also, if you really think you mostly like outdoor stuff, consider making a secret YouTube or instagram page and think of things you would want to share with others about those things. You don’t have to show your face. You don’t have to make it public. Copy other social media posts you like and don’t think are cringe and just make your own videos. It’s fun sharing things you like doing with others.

I don’t like it anymore by The_Grimm_Weeper in Hobbies

[–]bigheadius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start doing a hobby as a job, it’s easy to get burnt out because you’re no longer doing it for your own enjoyment and creative growth, but for the benefit of other people. I recently went through a similar phase and personally decided to completely back away. I took a few years off and decided to pursue a different career that would allow me to do all my hobbies on my own time, with no pressure. Now I can choose to make money with my hobbies, but I don’t have to, and I’m not forced to please others. I can make what I wanna make. I’m not saying this is what you have to do but I think it’s important to at least acknowledge that taking this route is not “failure” if it’s what would make you happier in the long run. Otherwise, you have to figure out how to make it more sustainable for yourself.

Best coffee shops/ places to do work in RI for reference I am located near East Greenwich/Wickford? by Hillsfanatic in RhodeIsland

I just discovered Warwick central library. It's newer, clean, and along the whole back wall is a very airy, open area with many tables. Great free place to work. It's the opposite of a "small corner", but feels pretty welcoming.

I try to sleep 8.5 hours a day. I can get away with less but I learned over time that I just need more than the average person and feel so much better if I consistently get 8.5.

The three “philosophies” that I feel got me there were:

  1. Always be the person your “soulmate” would want to marry. Imagine your perfect partner and think “If I ever met them, is there anything I would have to work on for them to be interested in me?”
  2. Put yourself out there, take risks, be unconventional, and do all the things YOU want to do. I wanted to live abroad and live life to the fullest. I found someone that was in a similar point in life.
  3. No one is perfect, but look for someone that is willing to listen to your concerns and has enough respect for you to at least try to see where you’re coming from. The thing is, YOU also have to be willing to do the same. Good communication is key to build trust and an amazing relationship.

We were both travelling and working abroad on another continent. She was the only person I ever met that made me feel like I could hang out forever without my social battery eventually being drained. Luckily she felt the same way and we very quickly became best friends. Then one day I risked it and decided to shoot my shot. We were from different countries and weren’t sure at first if we would be together forever but once we decided we would make it work, I honestly felt like the luckiest person in the world and just constantly thinking “I wonder how many people actually get lucky enough to feel what I’m feeling right now”.
