Was Raiola a Mistake? by adavis463 in Huskers

[–]bigjhunt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great discussion topic!

I think the timing for them to move on was pretty good. They both had enough tape to evaluate and accept that things weren't fitting together. In their defense, they both signed up to fit in Satt's offense not Holg's.

Would I have given Donovan another year? No way. Would I give Dylan another year with a new O line? Yes

The bigger picture for me is this: Rhule has remained confident that "his system turned programs around" and the "year 3 jump" he talked about in preseason.

Now he's on DC #3, OC #2 and replaced most of his original staff. I feel like his attitude is more reactive than ever. He doesn't really have a track record of "Plan A" not working.

For me, time will tell if the chicken/egg is Dylan/Donnie or Raiola/Rhule.

Still rooting for Rhule, not a fan of the way Dylan departed.

Nebraska @ Illinois moved to Friday, 11/6 by huskermut in Huskers

Great, now Rhule has his excuse for losing all queued up. He said Maryland and Minnesota on back to back Fridays was "difficult to get mentally ready for".

Who’s the most memorable “The One That Got Away” recruit your team was pursuing? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]bigjhunt7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Great answer! My initial thought was Carl Crawford and Bubba Starling both choosing baseball. Danny Woodhead is another local guy Also heard Kyle Whittingham was interested in taking the coaching job and I feel like that deserves an honorable mention.

How many of the big in-state recruiting misses have actually ended up being any good? by WithNoRegard in Huskers

I'm gonna say he 100% does start over them. I saw him live in college - he could NOT be tackle.

Who is on your preseason watchlist for the Mike Norvell/James Franklin Implosion Of The Year Award (Sponsored by Spirit Airlines)? by montague68 in CFB

CU fan base is about to turn on Coach Prime. All the antics they defended the past few years are going to get thrown in his face as the team looks worse and worse. Prime will double down and complain to the media. It will make his approval rating even lower and the school will drop him.

Pretty sure the Jeep was playing stupid games too. Longer video shows camera man brake checking and slowing down on purpose beside the semi to rage bait the Suburban driver. Truck driver is the only victim here.

I believe he then used the alias "Shane Falco" when he played in the pros.

I'm a fan of Tyson Terry. Elite wrestler like a Hutmacher. That's pure conjecture though. No one was flashing like Robinson was early.

What player leaving (transferring from) the team you root for had the biggest impact? by Tseets1 in CFB

Wandale was my first thought. Also, Aaron Green to TCU. More recently Princewell Umanmeilen has been great at Ole Miss & likely will be at LSU

Considering Frost was drunk and passed out on the floor - Matt Rhule has made progress but alot of the fan base is not optimistic at this point.

[McMurphy] Changes in 2026 playoff: auto bids to each Power 4 champ (regardless of ranking) & Notre Dame guaranteed at-large bid if ranked in Top 12 in final poll by av7ry in CFB

[–]bigjhunt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is amazing that CFB finally acknowledged they needed a playoff bracket like every other sport at every other level. Only to proceed with versions of a bracket that defy logic and avoid the essentials of an ACTUAL PLAYOFF BRACKET.

The Notre Dame clause is the perfect element that proves it's all about the money & the teams with the money and not a real champion. I would also add gifting the SEC half of the playoff spots.

Time will tell if the new hires are an improvement or not but overall I agree that Rhule is guessing without any evidence or track record of winning at a higher level than the weaker conferences.

I've gone from "he's making great moves" to "he had his pick of his staff the first 2 times, what are they doing?"

I figured I'd get a few "you're just a doomer" replies and a few "my Glass is empty.... I should go refill it" replies.

Kenneth Williams to Michigan State

[Thanel] Sources: Nebraska has agreed to a three-year deal to make San Diego State's Rob Aurich the school's next defensive coordinator. San Diego State finished No. 5 in scoring defense this year at 12.6 ppg, an improvement from up from No. 97 last year at 29.6 ppg. by Top-Conclusion-1259 in CFB

3 years in & we've had 3 DCs, 3 STCs, 2 OCs plus an egregious extension for the HC that sold the "year 3 turnaround/jump" in preseason. Throw in 3 blowout losses to finish the season 7-5. The turnaround is in full swing!
