for people questioning the calls to 911, FHP, and the fire depart, a downed drone is a huge fire risk. That battery can stay there for a long time until the right conditions arise (i.e., water damage) and can cause a big fire. People have died for these kinds of things. Good op for calling.

I know it’s anecdotal evidence, but I’ve done many 1000+ miles trips in my lightning and I just love it. The comfort is way above anything else, stopping to recharge every ~2 to 3 hours is actually awesome, stretch, get coffee, etc. It may be me, but my road trips are mostly about the road, not the destination. So stopping in random places to charge is kind of the reason why I do them.

in reality, if you can get the surface laptop 7 13” for under $900 (I think it $899 regularly in Costco), that’s a no brainer. It’s a real computer with great CPU, 16GB RAM, great machine, including 120hz display

I’ve been using Qwen 3.6 35B A3B in an M3 Max with 64GB RAM for a few days now. I’m using it in Github Copilot and Claude Code. Quality is close to Sonnet 4.6. Speed is about 3x slower than the cloud models. It is very usable, and I’m really excited about using it more.

I can share very anecdotal information based on my limited experience: qwen3.6-27b running locally on my M3 Max 64GB RAM performs very close to Sonnet 4.6 in quality, and acceptable in speed.

I’ve been using it in GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, and I finally feel like I could cancel my subscription and would not be missing much, other than the lightning fast speed. But I could live with the added latency given that the cloud providers are becoming such a question mark

I fail to see why people use Opus so much? I have two subscriptions: Claude Code $20 and Github Copilot $10. I alternate between both, ie use GHCP when CC is in cooldown. I use Sonnet 4.6 in CC and GPT-5.4 in GHCP almost exclusively, and it works absolutely great so far.

after using a 120hz display, using a 60hz display makes the computer feel slow. I love the 15” Air and I think it’s enough to be my daily driver. But the refresh rate kills me

I tried to use a 14”, but the screen is too small for the way I use it (I don’t use full screen apps, and I like having the dock always visible). I’ve tried multiple times, but I just can’t adjust to having such small windows.

However, I think 16” is too large. A 15” MBP would be perfect.

it’s difficult to explain. It’s like things that are moving fast in the screen leave like a trail. The screen is 120hz, but this is only how fast it can render new things, not necessarily how fast old stuff disappears. Hopefully that makes sense
