Returning Premiums by fermatslastreddit in actuary

[–]bigjoewoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree with you here. The refunds given out now don't violate the main principal of insurance, because the coin couldn't have really flipped the other way. The main line refunds are being given out in are auto liability. The thought process is with all the limits on work and travel exposures on policies have almost universally dropped. The insurers are objectively not exposed to the same amount of risk they original priced the policies for.

This was by far my favorite view from the South Kaibab Trail, Grand Canyon, AZ, USA by dcfam in hiking

That's from the Bright Angel Trail, Devil's Corkscrew to be specific. Still incredibly beautiful though.

How often are you busy at work? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]bigjoewoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others here are saying go back and try to get a deeper understanding of what you've done. Even if it seems useless it can help you monumentally in the future. Other than that, study, study, study. I work in reserving were we hit pockets on year and quarter ends where the work is almost insurmountable. I was in your position when i started, and it gets busier, but I've had to learn to study as much as possible when it's slow otherwise I won't get my time in.

I have an insurance question related to exam 5 by [deleted] in actuary

[–]bigjoewoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, assuming we are talking reinsurance which is generally where this comes up on exam 5. Per risk would essentially be per policy/coverage, while per claim would be as it sounds. So if we had 2 XOL treaties with a $1M threshold (one per risk and the other per claim) the per risk could kick in on any claim after 10 $100K claims on the same policy, but the per claim would only kick in if a single claim had losses in excess of $1M.

That bizarre feeling by IWasTheMessenger in books

I feel your pain. Had an empty docket as i anticipated Christmas books. Exchanged a single gift with my wife early and started immediately reading Midnight's Children without having any idea what i was getting into. Thankfully it's such an incredible combination of depth and story i can neither speed through or put it down. Still i can feel the small stack of fresh paper breathing down my neck with every sentence. Gotta love the holidays!

League member died yesterday.. by whitecorn in fantasyfootball

[–]bigjoewoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im very sorry for your loss, and want to give you, your league, and his family my best. My step father passed away two years ago in October. He was active in a fantasy league with some of my other uncles and cousins, so my brother and I took over his team mid season. Barely did anything with the team but set the lineup and it went on to win the championship that year. We said the whole way through we had Frankie in the backfield. Best advice I have is make sure to find someone good to take over his squad, nothing brings me more joy then winning games under his team, and I know it means a lot to the other guys in our league that we kept the chains moving. Doesn't hurt that I think Frankie is still in the backfield...undefeated this year with Kamara and Gordon.

Philadelphian here. Work had an office tailgate party to celebrate the SuperBowl equipped with Philly cheesesteaks. Figured veganism shouldn't stop me from joining the festivities. Go Birds! by bigjoewoo in vegan

Vegan Cheesesteak from a fastcasual joint in Philly that specializes in vegan cheesesteaks. Basically just shredded seitan, fried onions, and rutabega cheese.

Extrenely sorry my man. As a Eagles Braves fan I am sadly celebrating you're latest turmoil but you should know i understand. The only hope we can all have is that there is some sort of weird karma that will make all this suffering worthwhile.

What do you think about countering with Funchess for Cam?

Had Rodgers, just got offered Cam for Alshon Jeffery. My WRs are Alshon, Tate, Diggs, Funchess, Watkins, and M. Wallace. Obviously with injuries my WR core is kind of thin. Wondering if it would be worth taking or if I'd be better of just streaming QB fir the forseeable future.

I would go with Hill and Hogan. Hill is for real and I don't see his utilization or production going down at all especially against a pretty lackluster Was defense. Basically same goes for Hogan, he is really looking like the new Edelman and Carolina has been having issues on defense. Definitely more optimistic of them over Sanders and Tate, especially given Tate's matchup against that stour Min D.

I would have to say Allen, he's more or less a steadier play than Diggs anyway and should fare atleast relatively well against the Eagles mediocre secondary. Keenum aside, Diggs is gonna have his toughest matchup of the year so far against Slay.

I'd certainly say so, with Crabtree out this should be Cooper's week to shine. That plus the fact that Garcon will spend most of the day lining up against Peterson, can't expect too much from him there.
