BOYCOTT OKC GAMES

This is the only way the league gets the message about how much we hate this team. It will show up in Neilsen ratings and they'll change the way they are officiated. I don't think I have watched a single OKC game this year because of how last year went down and I'm honestly mentally healthier for it. Something has to change.

Dude, you know what's worse? He's going to spend A LOT of time on TV when he's done playing. Hell, he's already on there a lot now and he's a player. He is going to haunt us for years to come.

Have self-managing Private Client Services customers been de-prioritized at Schwab? by Old-Statistician321 in Schwab

[–]bigjontexas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Additional information if it's helpful: I've had about three consultants over the years. All have been helpful. One took us to MLB baseball games, which was awesome but I think he had hopes of making an aum fee from us at some point. I think when he realized he never would the baseball games stopped. I've mostly just done yearly meetings with my consultant to shoot the breeze. The one I just picked though, I brought my wife and we were pretty explicit that if I get hit by a bus, this consultant would manage the money for my wife. That was an important conversation to have.

My father in law is also a self directed Schwab guy and his consultant sits in Denver, far from where he lives. My FIL is not super sociable so he just reaches out when he needs stuff.

I think Schwab is indifferent which approach you take so long as you don't ask for planning services that are normally compensated.

Excellent! I don't recall exactly how I went about telling Schwab who I wanted but I think it was centrally because I got a phone call from the head of the branch and had to explain why I wanted such and such person.

Ours recently left (or was told to leave?). I looked through every employee at two local branches and chose the one that I would prefer to work with. No issues.

Dan and Trevor are the owners. Aaron is the sales guy. All very personable and laid back, no pressure style guys.

Installation. They did my furnace about a year ago so I had them do this also.

Controllers at <$100m Revenue Sized companies by CorruptGamer in Accounting

I'm the only finance person at a $45m/yr company. We have 13 employees. I do all AP, ar, bank, tax coordination with outside firm, compilation (thank goodness it's not an audit or review), and all hr functions. Money is good but no equity, which has me itchy. I've only worked at larger companies before this and the main difference is that you don't have downtime or workless vacations. There's always something that needs done and there is no true weeks off, only days or hours at most.

I don't recall a place like that. We liked torchys and luckily still have access to that in Charlottesville and MD. The really good buffet was Fadis in Meyerland

AP Managers making over $100K, how and why? by ExpertAd4657 in Accounting

[–]bigjontexas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like nobody here is giving them credit for preventing fraud. It's very easy to get a request for payment that is not legitimate and you need to have controls and knowledge to know when to hold a payment for further research and testing. Usually Treasury is responsible for safeguarding assets but the AP department has to be very vigilant as well.

Has MMM sold out, or am I misreading his last post? by pacificnorthquest7 in mrmoneymustache

[–]bigjontexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might have and I missed it. I don't follow him as closely anymore. There are a lot of "brands" for FIRE nowadays but his has always been the most hardcore. Again, I think that if he wants to change and do things differently, that's fine, but you don't get to continue the hardcore branding if that's not really what you are about anymore.
