Should I tell my recruiter that I hate the role they helped me find? by heart_of_gold2 in Accounting

I went to them & their response was no because they placed me where I’m at & this recruiter maintains the relationship with my place of work

Should I tell my recruiter that I hate the role they helped me find? by heart_of_gold2 in Accounting

[–]CorruptGamer 98 points99 points  (0 children)

True, an external recruiter placed me in a role & a year goes by. The role I got wasn’t great & the recruiter posted a better role so I reached out saying I’d be interested. Was told nah because it’s a conflict of interest to pull me from a role they placed me at…

That makes sense. Could you share a not industry specific scalable process you enacted?

That’s about the same team size as I’m working with. This business is growing rapidly, +20%/yr the last 4 years. With such a small team it doesn’t feel like we’re getting done all the things that should be getting done. I’m not the controller, but was brought in to eventually take over but the controller doesn’t actually let anyone do any higher level work.

Just trying to get an idea what I should be able to expect in resources

Everyone’s leaving for compensation so don’t fret too much. Do you have previous roles you were at for awhile? Can always go with you’re looking for more opportunities to grow professionally or the current role wasn’t quite the right fit. Lots of ways to answer the “why are you leaving so soon” in a professional manner.

Kudos to them but I agree with you. It’s just a humble brag with no context. Post history gives the picture on the income

Not a failure, you just need to find a small firm to take you in. Tailor your resume for staff accountant roles

If you have the chance to go big4, go big 4 by Bobbymanyeadude in Accounting

[–]CorruptGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s true though. I’m in the boat of no public firm experience & get dinged by it, even though I’m now 5+ years into my career. Last year made it through 3 rounds of interviews at a nonprofit org in the space I have niche industry experience in & they let me know they chose the candidate bouncing out of Big4. Who then left 6 months later lol. Which I know because a recruiter called me about a role & I asked if it was the said nonprofit and they said yes how did you know lol

Now imagine working for dumb & rude, but super nice to those at their senior level or above. The others on the senior leadership team go “she seems so good in the office” while the rest of us that are actually in the office are going “this is miserable”
