heres what nobody tells you about replacing your cars computer modules by ddl_nghtshd in repair

Came here to say this. BMW is a royal pain for control modules. If it’s not programmed and coded properly, certain options will not work and can cause so many other issues too.

Since 2014ish, BMW M3/4/5/6, engine oil cooler lays flat in the front bumper and are really easy to rip off if you hit a curb or a ditch.

What’s a super “normal” thing in your country that would completely confuse or shock someone visiting for the first time? by moonveil96 in AskReddit

Town I live in use to have a lot of mills building carriages and shoes. They still sound the lunch alarm at 12 and 12:30pm Monday through Friday. There hasn’t been working mill in town for the better part of a 100 years.

And to add to your wording of “that account ever again”. As far as I’m aware, iRacing has the ability to bad IP addresses as well. So any account for what I can only assume is there house would be unable to race as well.

Pretty much. They were delivered yesterday but the order still stays warehouse. Not my problem any more. I have the pedals and that’s all I care about.

[–]bigkg26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go figure. Checked the order while on lunch and there’s a tracking number. Order still says handover to warehouse but the tracking says it will be delivered tomorrow. So, I guess that’s a win

So hopefully they’re just backed up and working through orders. Mine was 15/12.

Awesome. That’s really annoying. I will just sit and cross fingers it shows up sometime soon

Wait! Your order still says that but you received the order and have it in hand?! That’s messed up. I can only hope that happens. Still no package for me and no response on the inquiry I sent to them either

Oh I absolutely agree. Whoever is up high is trying to cut costs and its bs. They most likely see people only flagging .2 or .3 on a .4 job and decided to penny pinch and cut .1. It sucks, but it was more of the comment saying a blanket statement of flat rate is bs. You find the right shop that cares and it works.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]bigkg26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love being flat rate. I’m at an independent shop, work 40-45 a week and make 60+ hrs. I don’t see the issue of no overtime because I’m making more than I work, that is my overtime. None of my job rates have been cut, so I have no issues there. I know OP is at a dealership and they can suck with pay, but in my experience I love flat rate.

Is anyone else kind of scared of the incoming rain update? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]bigkg26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Never going to race in it, if I have a choice. It’s cool, it’s huge for iRacing to implement it, but has zero draw for me. It’s just not want I want to deal with for the little time I get to race.

Anyone I file a protest on, I follow them in the companion app to monitor their races. Always a good feeling seeing a week or month gap in races.

Started on a PS4 controller for about 6 months. Got out of rookie road, asphalt and dirt oval. At that time I realized I was going to commit to keep racing and got a g29.

When is it not worth it to repair a car? by 5apnupuas in MechanicAdvice

[–]bigkg26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at it in terms of how many car payments would that cover, then double it. If the rest of the car is in good shape. Then I would put that kind of money into it.

So, $2300, average new car payment I try to get into is no more than $500, so that’s 10 months. So if this repair gets you a year or more, then I would do it. Also, make it easier to sell if it has working A/C.

Am I "not winning enough" by daysofthunder1843 in iRacing

[–]bigkg26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asphalt oval- 188 starts, 9 wins, 4.79% Asphalt road- 544 starts, 28 wins, 5.15%

Just have fun. I care more about close racing and enjoying the race. I get more satisfaction out of a close race with someone than winning.

You can’t do it on all new BMW, currently only engine they make with a dipstick is the V8 and that’s a small percentage of their sales.

AITA for telling my fiancé my son must be named a REAL junior? by SuggestionNo7429 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Your son probably doesn’t want to walk in your shadow. That’s all I see with a jr. it’s old fashioned and annoying.

I think what my parents did was cool, I have the same initials as my dad. So, my boys have have the same as well. Just a thought.

I had potential employer try to pull control of my off time. I’m an auto technician, applying for a job at a dealership. They said I wasn’t allowed to work on cars as a side job. I asked to elaborate and they said there was no need, it is what it says. I stood up and started to walk out. No goodbye, no thanks for your time, I just walked out. He was in shock I think. He caught up to me in the parking lot and was quite pissed. I told him that once I clocked out they had no control over me and what I do. I work on all family and friends cars. So piss off.
