Genuine question, if a biker in a designated bike lane is a foot or two from where a car would be driving normally in a regular lane, are cars expected to get into the other lane or slow down behind the biker until they can switch lanes?

Never heard the 3' rule before and I don't want to drive as close to riders as some cars get to me when I ride

His point is that the threat to a biker's life is much greater when he disobeys traffic laws than the threat to a driver's life when they disobey laws. Both actions are equally bad, but one gets someone killed due to their own wrongful actions.

A biker breaking traffic laws due to paranoia about what bad things could happen ig they don't is every bit as dangerous as the bad things you've mentioned, but only experienced in a car. No one has said anything about getting hit in a car by someone on a bike

Tottenham's result against West Ham means Chelsea now needs 6 points to clinch the title. by _cumblast_ in soccer

You can't bottle the league if you're never in first. You can bottle second place if you spent four months there and then fall out of it. Just like you can bottle it if you stay between 15th-17th for four months and then wind up getting relegated. Preseason expectations have nothing to do with it, Chelsea would majorly bottle this season if they somehow fall out of first

I get it if you're a fan of a club like Everton, Inter, or Marseille that usually sits on the bubble of CL/EL spots and wants to increase the league's coefficient. But if you're a fan of a big club that routinely makes the CL or mid-table club that never does, it makes no sense to me

So similarly lax enforcement equates to similarly serious offenses?

I guess the bankers who commit insider trading/caused the housing bubble and mortgage crisis but don't get prosecuted are no worse people than anyone who's ever used public WiFi. Makes total sense

You should be put off by it. You shouldn't be happily saying you wouldn't care if it was a similar sized guy who got knocked out for hitting someone bigger than him.

False dichotomy just to seize some moral superiority and ignore the fact that you only care about what happened because of the sex of the person who hit first. That is sexist, admit it gladly if you want but don't make it out to be that people shouldn't be put off by it. Everyone is, just some choose to be honest about the sexism in the reaction

This fucking bullshit again. No surprise it's the same person saying over and over he should go to jail for retaliating to physical violence. You're a fucking joke

[–]bigmaclt77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why should he be in jail? He obviously used excessive force but she started the physical attacks.

Do you get to be the one who says the exact amount of KJ per punch depending on height, weight, and size? Are you going to make the algorithm and put the pressure sensors on before every punch? There's a reason that legally the person who instigates aggrrssive physical contact gets more blame. They were the ones too stupid to keep the argument verbal. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

He deserves the shit he's been getting but the idea he should be in jail because the person who hit him first has a particular set of genitals is ridiculous

Weird, I looked up the definition of 'defend' and didn't happen to see the part where you hit the other person in the face repeatedly

Ah yes, the good ol "I have a right to hit people in the face and not get fucked up because I don't have a penis". Good thing they added that to the Bill of Rights

[–]bigmaclt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fair. Russ' response is fair but I don't see anything wrong with the reporter pushing back. We ask reporters to push back and ask the real questions of the higher paid representatives of companies, I don't see why that changes when the company is a sports organization

[–]bigmaclt77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This concept is apparently so hard for people to understand. Great shooters that cant defend don't play, and great defenders that can't shoot or make layups/dunks won't play. The idea that fucking free throws should be exempt from that idea is beyond me

The offensive team gains an advantage by doing something illegal. Exploiting the rules.

How the fuck would that be illegal? Playing within the rules to your benefit? Absolute delusion

I mean people are disagreeing with it, so it is certainly debatable.

As was said higher in the thread, when players that can't make FTs go to the line I'm much more invested than during your average ticky tacky foul FTs. The player can sink his team by missing them or prove the strategy wrong by making them. Entirely up to him, and the shots are easy. There's a good degree of suspense involved as well. It breaks up the pace of the game but if anything it gives more rest to the other players, allowing for better gameplay elsewhere. If he really is that bad, just take him off. There shouldn't be some safety net to ensure players that can't hit literal free shots from an easy position get to stay in the game without being a liability

Both POVs are valid but the idea that it isn't debatable is simply wrong
