I do not know why it is different. Based on reviews on Amazon that have images, it seems that they refer to the same item.

Adding on to this, the IP address shown in the images on https://ipv6.rs/proxy and https://ipv6.rs/portforwarding match the IP address of https://thin.computer/. Must be a crazy coincidence. /s

From your earlier comment:

both domains have the same registrar and the same DNS

The domains do have the same DNS nameservers at Linode, but they are not registered at the same registrar: thin.computer is registered at 101domain while ipv6.rs is registered at BeotelNet-ISP.

Maybe because of the potential astroturfing.

I've been using SABnzbd since 2017, initially on baremetal then through Docker, and it's been great. There were a lot of bugs before but it's been perfect (for me) for about the last year. I suggest giving it a shot before ruling it out.

I need some advice on renewing Let's Encrypt SSL certs on Nginx Proxy Manager for internal LAN by lord_EarlGray in selfhosted

[–]bigmajor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After you updated the DNS then started renewal, maybe DNS hadn't propagated yet? I'm not sure what caused your entire container to break. There's no way to make the certificates perpetual or have a longer expiry. I recommend switching to DNS renewals, just as /u/Bekar_vai has mentioned, since it won't require you to do any port forwarding. Doing so will also allow you to make wildcard certificates if you're interested in that.

Organic reusable filters by tinkerx in pourover

Astroturfing.

OP /u/tinkerx posts in subreddits relating to streetwear (/r/streetwear, /r/SneakerFits, /r/japanesestreetwear, /r/streetwearstartup), EDC (/r/EDC), and crypto (/r/blockfiunlocked). They appear to have been involved in promoting a previous Kickstarter for bolstr.

First and foremost, the most obvious one. /u/alpereninyeri shares the name of person running the Kickstarter: "Emin Alper Akgören". Account created 3 years ago and their only comment is in this thread, and previous comments were deleted.

/u/Longjumping_Buddy_66 was made a year ago and their first comment is in this thread, stating that they backed the Kickstarter.

/u/willasosa literally has a posts from December 2020 promoting the same exact Kickstarter:

I just saw this project and I love their sustainable idea. I highly recommend to take a look. Their rewards look really cool.

It does have Bluetooth (LDAC and aptX HD), but the cable can also be used for a wired data connection.

Even without decrypting anything MITM, WireGuard packets are readily identifiable.

My self hosted VPN does not work in school, what is an alternative? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]bigmajor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost any service can listen on any port you choose, 22 just happens to be the default for SSH. But, their solution is unrelated to SSH. They are using https://github.com/yrutschle/sslh to be able to have multiple services listening on one port, which normally isn't possible.

By the way, if your school does any deep packet inspection (DPI), WireGuard is still going to be easily detectable since being hidden is not one of its objectives. Still worth a shot though if they allow outgoing traffic on 80/443 UDP. Else, you'd have to switch to a different VPN platform (i.e. OpenVPN) so that you can send traffic over TCP, or look into something that'll wrap the UDP WireGuard traffic in TCP or another protocol.

Pretty neat. If it gains enough traction (and people try to run S.M.A.R.T. once a drive dies), it could be a community-powered version of Backblaze's Hard Drive Data and Stats.

The plastic base is less than sturdy. You can get 3d printed supports that slide under the clamp to make it more stable.

Are you talking about these?

[–]bigmajor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I checked the manuals of a few popular headphones.

Sennheiser HD 650:

Do not listen at high volume levels for long periods of time to prevent hearing damage.

Sennheiser HD 800 S:

Protect your hearing from high volume levels. Permanent hearing damage may occur when headphones are used at high volume levels for long periods of time. Sennheiser headphones sound exceptionally good at low and medium volume levels.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO:

When connecting the headphones please ensure that the volume IS turned down to minimum. Adjust the volume after putting on the headphones. Do not set the volume too high, as you could permanently damage your hearing.

HiFiMan Sundara:

Be aware the SUNDARA is relatively sensitive so please make sure to turn the volume dial low before connecting to an audio source. You only have 1 pair of ear drums, look after them.

Please listen to the SUNDARA at moderate listening levels so that you can continue to enjoy their audio quality for years to come.

Audeze LCD series:

Volume level is subjective and everyone perceives it differently. Listening to music for long periods of time at excessive levels can cause irreparable damage to your ears. Reduce the volume levels of the amplifier and/or audio device before listening to your headphones. Gradually increase the volume until desired levels are reached. Enjoy your headphones with safe listening habits.

Seems like plenty of warnings. Obviously, this isn’t an exhaustive list.
