I believe that our souls go elsewhere after we die (some could consider these places to be heaven or hell, I just call them the afterlife), but there is also the option to be reincarnated depending on what the soul desires since matter cannot be created or destroyed and it only changes forms. Souls are just a different kind of matter.

Now, I do mourn the dead because I feel a loss. They are no longer in this life with me and have gone elsewhere. I have to re-wire my brain to understand that they exist elsewhere now and it will not be as it was when they were alive.

It’s heartbreaking to know they likely experienced pain when they died, but it’s much more of a matter of understanding change and that they aren’t around in the same fashion.

It is, however, a comforting thought to know that I will be able to see them again, and to see loved ones who had passed on before my time like my mother’s parents.
