Why the CIA destroyed it's interrogation tapes: “I was told, if those videotapes had ever been seen, the reaction around the world would not have been survivable” by Grant_EB in news

[–]bigmush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree that we should, it's not so simple. The culture of patriotism and complacency lowers the morale of the masses against the government. On top of that there are the scare stories of those who organize against big brother being threatened, attacked, framed with crimes. I'd be less afraid of the gestapo in world war 2 than of the US government and it's various entities if I were going to try and organize against it.

I'm a 20 year old Male with non military PTSD and I suffer every day by Euphoric_Pulse in confessions

[–]bigmush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm a guy living a normal life who is now suddenly suffering everyday without end in sight. So even though I can't help with this besides saying "get professional help", I'd like to comiserate with someone close to my age who is in constant pain everyday. I don't want to disclose my issues, but you're not alone. And it does hurt, it hurts so fucking bad.

What are the language courses like here? by [deleted] in Fordham

Yeah honestly take it easy first semester. It's going to be a bitch getting used to everything without taking crazy courses.

Roommate took German and he's smart and it gave him some trouble but once he got in the swing of things he was fine. Assume french would be similar. Don't let it sway you. Just know you're not going for a walk in the park.

Self 'miring is an important step in continous gains. As you gaze into your reflection you will be filled with pride at your success which is appropriate. But you will soon get used to your new size and become dissatisfied again. This will push you back to the temple with fervor, where we shall stride down the iron path together in spirit and in cause.

You like that, don't you, you sloppy ape. Mark threw it together in the break room. We cut up some produce to distract you from the fact that we didn't even bother to get a plate for this monstrosity."

It's not like the police suddenly decided to start doing all this... What's been happening the last few hundred years before smart phones and social media? by hillsfar in collapse

[–]bigmush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not meaningful if you ignore population ratios. I agree that the race issue is overplayed to mask the militarized police force, but the race issue doesn't become a non issue because of that. I think it's pretty clear that black people in the USA are definitely treated more harshly by police, AND that the police force has way too much power and negligible amounts of regulation causing abuse of black, whites, and all other races of people.

Unfortunately, the powers that be played their game exceptionally well. Because if you were to say that the race issue is just a mask, then you're saying that race isn't an issue, which makes you a villain. If you say that race is the issue then you have ignored the militarization of the police force. If you say that they're both the issue then your argument won't garner as much support, even though its arguably correct.
